Jim Thornton, the long-time announcer for \u201cWheel of Fortune,\u201d has been suspended from the show.<\/p>\n
Sony Pictures Television Studios said in a statement to TMZ<\/a>, \u201cWe have recently been made aware of allegations concerning Jim Thornton. He has been suspended from Wheel of Fortune and we are recasting while we conduct a thorough investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n The studio did not elaborate on the nature of the allegations, but TMZ reports there was an alleged incident with Thornton on a commercial flight in May in which a passenger complained to a flight attendant about him.<\/p>\n According to the outlet, law enforcement was called to meet Thornton when they arrived at the gate and he was questioned but later released.<\/p>\n “On May 14, American Airlines Flight 1276 was met by law enforcement upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport following concerns reported by a customer onboard,\u201d the airline told TMZ.<\/p>\n Thornton has been with \u201cWheel of Fortune\u201d since 2011 following the death of the previous long-running announcer, Charlie O\u2019Donnell who was with the show from 1975 to 1980 and 1989 to 2010.<\/p>\n The announcer has also worked on series like \u201cThe Price is Right,\u201d \u201cThe Soup,\u201d and \u201cCelebrity Deathmatch,\u201d and films like \u201cMonsters Inc.\u201d<\/p>\n Follow us on Instagram @WeArePauseRewind<\/a> for all your pop culture obsessions.<\/p>\n
