A second trailer dropped on Wednesday for the forthcoming Street Fighter movie, giving fans a closer look at characters Ken Masters, Ryu and Chun-Li \u2014 among other characters \u2014 unleashing their signature moves on each other. The live-action movie is based on the long-running, beloved video game series of the same name that dominated the arcade scene and was iconic in ’90s pop culture.<\/p>\n

In the nearly three-minute-long new trailer, viewers see more of the backstory at the center of the live-action adaptation. Chun-Li (Callina Liang) tries to convince Ryu (Andrew Koji) that Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) is in trouble and needs his help fighting in a martial arts tournament.<\/p>\n

“You were the best fighter in the world, and then you disappeared. What happened?” Chun-Li asks Ryu.<\/p>\n

“The path I’m on now, it’s not one of combat. I don’t fight anymore,” Ryu tells Chun-Li. She then delivers a swift kick to his face and replies, “It’s honestly the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”<\/p>\n

In a proper nod to the video game, a special interactive version of the new trailer was also released on YouTube<\/a>, where fans can kick and punch along with it and get a score at the end.<\/p>\n

In the first trailer that dropped in April, viewers get a sense that Ken is really working through something as his best friend and fierce rival, Ryu, shows up, and a fight scene, albeit a comedic one, ensues.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chun-Li is recruiting fighters from around the globe for the World Warrior Tournament as we see other signature characters fighting in epic one-on-one battles. There are also some Easter eggs in the trailer, like Ken’s “car smash” in the bonus stages of the Street Fighter II game, as well as a cheeky reference to Chun-Li’s notoriously large and powerful thighs.<\/p>\n

The film, directed by Kitao Sakurai and written by Dalan Musson, is set to release in theaters on Oct. 16, 2026. Legendary Japanese video game developer Capcom co-produced the film, and it’s being distributed by Paramount.<\/p>\n

It isn’t the first rodeo for Street Fighter on the big screen. The 2026 film follows the 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen and Kylie Minogue and 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.<\/p>\n
