Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series by George R. R. Martin, the show was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Since Game of Thrones ended, a number of spin-off shows have been announced. So far, the only one that has been released is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/tag\/house-of-the-dragon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">House of the Dragon<\/a>, which has so far run for two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>When are the release date windows for the Game of Thrones spin-off shows?<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/hbo-casey-bloys-emmy-interview-the-pitt-white-lotus-2026-1236533871\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Deadline<\/a> at the Primetime Emmy Awards, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/tag\/hbo-max\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HBO Max<\/a>\u2019s Casey Bloys said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/tag\/house-of-the-dragon-season-3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">House of the Dragon Season 3<\/a> will be \u201cjust outside of [the 2026 Emmy eligibility window].\u201d The window closes on May 31, 2026, meaning the show will premiere shortly after that, possibly in June.<\/p>\n<p>Another Game of Thrones spin-off titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/tag\/a-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms<\/a>, meanwhile, is now scheduled to premiere in January 2026. It was previously known that the show was coming out in the winter of 2026 after being pushed back from its original 2025 premiere; however, this new update now gives Game of Thrones fans a better idea of when it\u2019ll arrive. <\/p>\n<p>A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set before the events of Game of Thrones and uses Martin\u2019s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas as its basis. Created by Martin and Ira Parker, the show stars Peter Claffey as Dunk, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion \u201cBrightflame\u201d Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor \u201cBreakspear\u201d Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Sir Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maker Targaryen.<\/p>\n<p>House of the Dragon, meanwhile, comes from Martin and Ryan Condal. The first season premiered in August 2022, while Season 2 then arrived in 2024. The show\u2019s cast includes Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Emma D\u2019Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The first two seasons of House of the Dragon, along with the entirety of Game of Thrones, are currently available to stream on HBO Max.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New release date windows for some Game of Thrones spin-off shows have been announced.
