SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – AC\/DC will perform at Notre Dame Stadium Friday, and fans have already been gathering at the Bend Lounge in downtown South Bend, where merchandise and memorabilia from the band are on display.<\/p>\n
Robert Stewart, a lifelong AC\/DC fan, keeps his ticket stubs, including two from Germany in the 1980s and two more from Indiana a decade later.<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved them right away. I grew up a Beatles fan, but the moment I started hearing Angus and Malcolm, it was over,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n
Stewart said he admires guitarist Angus Young\u2019s stage energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe energy for a guy like Angus. He\u2019s out there just running around like a chicken with his head cut off. For a guy a few years older than me, he\u2019s really rocking it still,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n
Fans bring a new generation<\/b><\/p>\n
Other longtime fans have seen AC\/DC play South Bend twice before. This time, their grandchildren are joining them.<\/p>\n
Rick Lamberton, a lifelong AC\/DC fan, said he is bringing two of his grandsons to their first AC\/DC show.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m bringing two of my grandsons with me to this. This will be their first time. We\u2019ll get them a shirt. They don\u2019t want the horns. We\u2019ve got a set of horns already. So, I said, \u2018I\u2019m going to get you guys a set of horns.\u2019 And they said, \u2018I don\u2019t know if we want that,\u2019\u201d Lamberton said.<\/p>\n
The PWR\/UP pop-up at the Bend Lounge gives first-time fans a chance to get a piece of AC\/DC memorabilia. Some younger fans already have pieces passed down from family members.<\/p>\n
Charley Bragg, a new AC\/DC fan, said her shirt belonged to her grandfather.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was actually my papa\u2019s when he went in 2008,\u201d Bragg said.<\/p>\n
Stewart said he expects a positive atmosphere among fans at the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just going to be a great show. AC\/DC fans are some of the friendliest people you\u2019ll ever meet. There ain\u2019t a bad one amongst a bunch,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n
Pop-up hours announced<\/b><\/p>\n
The PWR\/UP pop-up at the Bend Lounge will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. <\/p>\n
