{"id":672210,"date":"2026-09-04T12:19:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/672210\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T12:19:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:19:14","slug":"over-800-barrels-of-guinness-worth-around-e135k-stolen-from-english-depot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/672210\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 800 barrels of Guinness worth around \u20ac135k stolen from English depot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OVER 800 BARRELS of Guinness, with an estimated value of \u00a3115,000 (\u20ac134,000), were stolen from two lorries in a depot in England earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Sergeant McClatchy, from Cheshire police, remarked: \u201cIt is famously said that \u2018Guinness is good for you\u2019, but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Guinness was stolen by two men who connected lorries to HGV trailers containing the famous stout, before driving off.<\/p>\n<p>At around 7.45pm on Monday 31 August, a lorry entered an industrial estate in the town of Runcorn, which in Cheshire and is part of the Liverpool City region.<\/p>\n<p>The lorry connected to a HGV trailer containing barrels of Guinness before leaving the site at 7.55pm and driving in the direction of the Mersey Gateway.<\/p>\n<p>Then at 9.12pm, a second lorry arrived at the same site in a different lorry and connected to another trailer containing barrels of Guinness.<\/p>\n<p>The lorry left the site at around 9.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s estimated that the total value of the items stolen \u2013 the Guinness, as well as the trailers \u2013 is around \u00a3205,000 (\u20ac238,000).<\/p>\n<p>The trailers are described as white Tri-Axle Curtain side trailers with GXO company branding on curtains and rear doors.<\/p>\n<p>The trailers also have unique ID numbers on their rear doors in the top left corner.
