Oasis: Don\u2019t Look Back In Anger directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern have revealed – perhaps unsurprisingly – that there was “definite tension” between Liam and Noel Gallagher<\/a> during filming.<\/p>\n

The upcoming documentary<\/a>, which is written and produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is set to be released in cinemas<\/a> on 9 September before coming to Disney+<\/a> later in the year.<\/p>\n

The highly-anticipated film follows the famous brothers as they reunite for their first shows in nearly 16 years, with the Britpop band embarking on a worldwide tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary. <\/p>\n

In an interview with Variety<\/a>, Lovelace and Southern opened up about their experience of working with the famously feuding brothers as they rehearsed for their record-breaking world tour.<\/p>\n

“It was amazing to watch,” said Lovelace. “It was so interesting hearing the music come together, having not heard them play as a band for 15\/16 years, but also seeing them reconnecting. It was a privileged view.”<\/p>\n

According to the directors, they set up cameras in the studio and watched from afar as they didn’t want to get in the way, as it was “literally the first time they’d been in a room together for a prolonged period for 15 years”.<\/p>\n

With the cameras on, Southern described the reunion between the brothers as “workmanlike”, saying: “There was no kind of messing around. As soon as Liam arrived, it’s like, ‘Right, are we doing this?’ And they were just going through the whole set.”<\/p>\n

“But it’s sort of fascinating to watch that process and then the subtleties of their interactions, because there was no huge kind of coming together,” added the filmmaker.<\/p>\n

Opening up about the huge tour itself, Lovelace said that while the friction between the brothers was visible, it subsided as soon as they played their first comeback gig in Cardiff.<\/p>\n

“There was definite tension,” said Lovelace. “And, from our perspective as observers, that didn’t dissipate until that first moment when the expectant energy of the crowds met the nervousness of the band.”<\/p>\n

“That was a real moment of alchemy. It was like something incredibly special happened when these people who’ve been waiting 16 years for this momentous thing to happen got it,” he added.
