The group’s performance of “Control of the Knife,” filmed at London’s O2 Arena during their 2008 Tangled Up Tour, is now available to watch on their official YouTube channel.

“Control of the Knife” is featured on the pop group’s fourth album Tangled Up, released in 2007 via Polydor.

The band has been unveiling a number of classic performances previously stashed away in their vault. In August alone, the band shared live O2 Arena videos of tracks like “Call the Shots,” “Sexy! No No No,” “Close To Love,” and “Black Jacks.”

In a 2013 interview with Wales Online, the group discussed how the album took shape, particularly honing in on their relationship with producer Brian Higgins. Nicola Roberts explained, “Brian takes inspiration from all that, so it’s important he’s up to date with where we are. Our songs have to reflect us so that’s why we do it. After that, songs are written, demos are recorded and ideas are swapped. Normally, a Girls Aloud album will be recorded in a matter of weeks, but Tangled Up took much longer.”

The following Tangled Up Tour encompassed 35 shows across two legs. The arena trek included stops in Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Edinburgh, and London, where Girls Aloud performed two nights at the O2 Arena.

More recently, in 2024, members Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh reunited for The Girls Aloud Show tour, which marked their emotional return following Sarah Harding’s death in 2021. The run honored more than two decades of Girls Aloud and featured five shows at London’s O2 Arena.

Last month, when the band unveiled the live video version of “Call The Shots,” they also confirmed a deluxe reissue of Tangled Up. Alongside B-sides, alternative mixes, and remixes, the new edition includes two previously unheard tracks: “What’s A Girl To Do” and “My Heart.” It is available in three versions: a colored vinyl, a picture disc, and a 3CD set.

Watch the video for “Control of the Knife” here.

Girls Aloud are back with another instantly memorable live video from their archive.
