\u201cAlways [when] we\u2019ve been on stage, he\u2019s been running around, and he\u2019d run up to Geezer [Butler]<\/a> and pull a face jokingly and come over to me and pull a face or the drummer or whatever. We always had a little laugh on stage and enjoy when he\u2019d run about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iommi continued: \u201cBut at \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019, of course, he\u2019s in a throne, and I couldn\u2019t see him, which felt very unusual. I stood back by Bill [Ward]. But it was a great moment, and I\u2019m really glad we could get the opportunity to do it, because I mean, God, we didn\u2019t know he was going to go that quick.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he did\u2026 There\u2019s memories that will remain there, from rehearsals to the whole thing\u2026 I am glad that we could do that gig.\u201d<\/p>\n

The guitarist was talking on the podcast in support of his first solo album in over 20 years, \u2018From The Dark\u2019<\/a>, which is is out next month. It\u2019ll follow on from his 2005 third record, \u2018Fused\u2019.<\/p>\n

When paying tribute to Osbourne in the wake of his death<\/a> last summer, Iommi wrote: \u201cI just can\u2019t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just such heartbreaking news that I can\u2019t really find the words, there won\u2019t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz.\u201d<\/p>\n

Osbourne\u2019s death certificate confirmed his cause of death to be a heart attack<\/a>, while also citing coronary heart disease and Parkinson\u2019s. The document listed his occupation as \u201cSongwriter, Performer and Rock Legend\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This summer, Sharon Osbourne revealed the advice her late husband had given her to remember him on the first anniversary of his death<\/a>, as his former Black Sabbath bandmates paid tribute again.<\/p>\n

That same day,\u00a0the first-ever official \u2018Ozzy Day\u2019 took place in his home city of Birmingham<\/a>. His son Jack urged fans to share memories about his dad<\/a>, saying he wanted to \u201cfill the entire day of July 22 with just awesome Ozzy stories\u201d. The star\u2019s daughter Kelly spoke about how she was coping one year on<\/a>, saying she didn\u2019t \u201cjust mourn the father I lost. I mourn the soul I was before [his] death\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jack confirmed earlier this year that a biopic about his parents Ozzy and Sharon was \u201cabsolutely\u201d happening<\/a>, and slated for a 2028 release. He\u2019d previously revealed that a \u201cphenomenal\u201d lead actor was attached<\/a>\u00a0to the film.<\/p>\n

In other news, the venue for Ozzfest 2027 has been officially announced<\/a>. Meanwhile, Sharon has reiterated<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0the planned AI-powered avatar of her late husband<\/a> is not about cashing in on his legacy. Universal Studios is launching two Ozzy-inspired haunted houses, too, saying it will help \u201cgrow his licensing program around the world\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n
