\n\t\u201cEvil Dead\u201d star Bruce Campbell<\/a> is opening up about his battle with cancer, revealing that he\u2019s been given about five years to live.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tBack in March, Campbell revealed he had been diagnosed with a cancer that was \u201ctreatable but not curable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThese days, when someone is having a health issue, it\u2019s referred to as an \u2018opportunity,\u2019 so let\u2019s go with that \u2014 I\u2019m having one of those,\u201d he wrote on X in March. \u201cIt\u2019s also called a type of cancer that\u2019s \u2018treatable\u2019 not \u2018curable.\u2019 I apologize if that\u2019s a shock \u2013 it was to me too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell didn\u2019t go into detail about what type of cancer he\u2019d been diagnosed with, but wrote that \u201cprofessionally, a few things will have to change. Appearances and cons and work in general need to take back seat to treatment. My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie \u2018Ernie & Emma\u2019 this fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Wednesday\u2019s episode of \u201cThe Adam Carolla Show,\u201d Campbell opened up more about his diagnosis and treatment while also discussing his new movie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m in a five-year prognosis,\u201d he said. \u201cWith the type of cancer that I have, which I don\u2019t want to get into, the current thing is a five-year deal.\u201d When Carolla asked if that meant Campbell had five years to live, the actor replied \u201cgive or take.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a fascinating thing that takes place because [cancer] messes with your head, too. I\u2019ve decided though, pretty specifically, to live with it, not die from it,\u201d he added. \u201cYou can go down a massive rabbit hole. The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have exactly what you have. I won\u2019t touch it with a 10-foot pole.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell serves as director, writer, producer and lead actor in \u201cErnie & Emma,\u201d in which he plays a widower scattering his late wife\u2019s ashes, reflecting on their relationship together and confronting his grief.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a very fascinating time of having a movie about a guy who\u2019s spreading his wife\u2019s ashes, who died, made by a guy who\u2019s dying,\u201d he told Carolla.<\/p>\n

\n\tCampbell, who starred as the chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams in director Sam Raimi\u2019s original \u201cEvil Dead\u201d trilogy, executive produced this summer\u2019s installment in the horror franchise, \u201cEvil Dead Burn.\u201d He\u2019s also an EP on the next movie, 2028\u2019s \u201cEvil Dead Wrath.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m moving on. I got a movie to promote. And when I promote this movie, I have nothing. I\u2019m free and clear when I promote this movie mentally,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cYou have to make this decision of, \u2018Well, OK, but do I have to stop everything that I\u2019m doing because of this?\u2019 Well, no.\u201d<\/p>\n
