It was briefly mentioned during the WWDC keynote back in June, but there were no details at the time. Now there\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.macrumors.com\/threads\/heres-how-iphone-handoff-will-let-you-switch-between-two-iphone-devices-with-the-same-phone-number.2488350\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">demo clip<\/a> showing how to set up the feature running in Xcode 27\u2019s Device Hub. It lets you pair two iPhones, using one as your main device and the other as its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/apple\/comments\/1w5kuyq\/ios_27_introduces_new_iphone_handoff_feature\/?solution=fe952f2dec55d554fe952f2dec55d554&amp;js_challenge=1&amp;jsc_token=7afd7253fec22262ff1c52b1703fe9ec99f44232f38d26908f1f0bff29558772&amp;jsc_orig_r=&amp;share_id=X3KWMg_RxNuqvuoCOSOGs&amp;utm_medium=ios_app&amp;utm_name=iossmf&amp;utm_source=share&amp;utm_term=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">companion<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Launching the feature now makes sense with the expected launch of the foldable iPhone Ultra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/989692\/apple-iphone-launch-event-september-2026-how-to-watch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">right around the corner<\/a>. People might not always want to take a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/907856\/iphone-fold-dummy-design-delay-production\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">chunky<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/782366\/foldable-details-iphone-air-ifixit-teardown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">extremely expensive<\/a> device out with them. So Handoff would let users temporarily switch over to a cheaper, smaller device \u2014 like that cracked iPhone 13 you\u2019ve been stubbornly refusing to upgrade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The feature will require carrier support, however.
