{"id":674535,"date":"2026-09-05T23:02:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T23:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/674535\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T23:02:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T23:02:12","slug":"man-60s-dies-after-being-taken-from-water-off-donegal-coast-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/674535\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (60s) dies after being taken from water off Donegal coast \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man has died after being taken from the water off Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\">Donegal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man, who was in his 60s, was spotted by passersby in the water at Ned\u2019s Point near Buncrana.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He was taken from the water at around 2.30pm by members of the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The emergency services were called and numerous services including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/national-ambulance-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/national-ambulance-service\/\">National Ambulance Service<\/a>, the fire service and the Lough Swilly RNLI responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Attempts were made to resuscitate the man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The dead man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where a full postmortem examination is to take place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has died after being taken from the water off Co Donegal.
