THE TRAITORS IRELAND got off to a great start for the faithfuls when they successfully banished a traitor at the first time of asking.<\/p>\n

Most contestants praised Laura, who was later murdered by the traitors, for leading the charge and banishing Donegal\u2019s Edelle at the first time of asking.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cTo get a traitor on the first night, whether she was a traitor or not on day one, it\u2019s still a victory in my eyes,\u201d Laura told a group of journalists this week.<\/p>\n

\n Edelle (44) is a software operations lead from Donegal.\n<\/p>\n

She was speaking alongside Sean A, who became the first faithful to be banished.<\/p>\n

He described Laura as a \u201csuper sleuth\u201d and said his days in Slane Castle were numbered after she pre-emptively pinned her murder on him as she left the castle for what turned out to be the final time.<\/p>\n

As for his own game plan, Sean A remarked that it was \u201cdeath or glory\u201d after a \u201cslip of the tongue\u201d saw him tell the roundtable that he was trying to catch faithfuls instead of traitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt turned out to be death,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Traitors Ireland returns tonight for another slate of three episodes over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s episode will start with a so-called \u201csoft kill, nice and gentle\u201d, as we see who the traitors decided to murder out of a short list of Aoife, Ian or Saoirse.<\/p>\n

\u2018Not everyone\u2019s cup of tea\u2019<\/p>\n

Laura\u2019s murder in episode three came very much to the delight of fellow faithful Kayleigh.<\/p>\n

Kayleigh remarked that she \u201chad some strawberries and a croissant to celebrate\u201d Laura\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like a weight was lifted,\u201d she added. \u201cI was delighted she was gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about Kayleigh\u2019s reaction, Laura remarked that she \u201cmight have to have a word with her at the wrap party\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said she was \u201csurprised\u201d by Kayleigh\u2019s reaction.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got on so great with Kayleigh in the castle,\u201d said Laura, \u201cbut at the same time I get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura said she was \u201cputting the faithfuls under pressure to prove they were faithful when it was the traitors I was trying to find\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut maybe just a little bit more kindness might have been nice in her delivery,\u201d she added of Kayleigh\u2019s reaction to her murder.<\/p>\n

\u201cI get it at the same time, but we\u2019ll have a little drink at the wrap party, and it\u2019ll be all good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sean A quipped that he\u2019ll be on hand to \u201creferee that\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it was put to Laura by a reporter over the videocall that she has something of a \u201cmarmite\u201d personality, and she acknowledged that there has been a \u201cmix\u201d in reaction to her online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s fine and I have a saying: \u2018I\u2019m not everyone\u2019s cup of tea because I\u2019m champagne\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the that\u2019s the way I see it, everyone\u2019s entitled to their opinion and if I\u2019m not everyone\u2019s cup of tea, that\u2019s totally fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that she was \u201cunapologetically myself\u201d and that the reaction has been much more positive than negative.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a confident girl, and I think that definitely came across.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would rather it have been a true reflection of myself than me coming across as somebody different.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, she encouraged viewers to remember \u201cthat it is a game, and what you see is not the real person, you\u2019re seeing a snapshot\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be just lovely if people could remember to be a little bit more kind,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

\u201cChallenge the gameplay, that\u2019s totally fine, but the more personal stuff is a bit more hard-hitting, and that has been the difficult side of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sean A added: \u201cPlay the ball and not the man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Come out swinging\u2019<\/p>\n

Sean A meanwhile said he \u201cknew I\u2019d put a target on my back when I stood up and tried to be chivalrous and defend Edelle\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that he only realised how dire the situation looked for himself when he got into the breakfast room the next morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018oh God, I\u2019m in a hole here\u2019. So, what did I do? I dug the hole even deeper.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy whole strategy was to come out swinging, come out absolutely certain that it was Donal.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut coming back from the challenge, I knew the game was up so I decided to have a bit of fun with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI was going to go out swinging, and I certainly wasn\u2019t going to go just shrugging my shoulders and saying, \u2018ah, well, sure, whatever\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was going to go down with a fight, that was my plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way I looked at it, it was death or glory, and it turned out to be death.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Zealand cover story<\/p>\n

Laura said that the cover story she had concocted to explain her absence while she was playing The Traitors was that she was visiting her sister in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

But after a swift exit from the castle, Laura returned home and closed the blinds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually had to stay in my house, because I was meant to be in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe blinds were down, I couldn\u2019t leave, and then I texted a few of the girls like, \u2018I\u2019m going to come home early, this is just not the vibe\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sean A meanwhile said it is something of a relief to be banished early.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such strong and powerful experience to go through,\u201d he said, \u201cbut the biggest thing is constant vigilance to not let anything leak at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the relief you get when you can now talk openly about things is just great.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that it is taking some adjustment to get used to his newfound fame.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife said, \u2018Sean was just himself on that show\u2019, and she\u2019s had to put up with it for 40-odd years, so why shouldn\u2019t the public have to put up with it for a couple of days?\u201d<\/p>\n

18-hour days<\/p>\n

While the show is distilled into an hour or so, the contestants say they can face 18-hour days.<\/p>\n

Sean A said the \u201cintensity\u201d of the game came as a surprise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe days are extremely long, and two days ago these people were strangers to you, and now you\u2019re pretty much living with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just that pressure cooker, everything is fast-forwarded and things that may take a week or two in the real world to talk to people about, you\u2019re talking after two hours about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura added that she was surprised at the friendships she made while in the castle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was going in like, \u2018let\u2019s play this game\u2019, but I think had I stayed in longer, I would have struggled with the relationships that I was making to separate the player from the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who will win?<\/p>\n

Laura said she has no idea who will win but remarked that Janet and David stand out as two \u201cstrong\u201d faithfuls.<\/p>\n

However, she said traitors P\u00e1raic K and Carla could \u201cpull it out of the bag\u201d and that there already seems to be a divide with the third original traitor, Fionula.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sean A remarked that \u201cnot for the first time, Laura and I are going to disagree\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said he can\u2019t see the \u201cthree traitors we currently have getting much further\u201d and that \u201cone of them is going to trip up\u201d as there is already some \u201cfriction\u201d that could get bigger.<\/p>\n

As for the faithfuls, he said Pete, the investigator with the Defence Forces, is a \u201cstrong player\u201d who is \u201ccoming to the fore\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sean A also pointed to Denis as \u201cone to watch\u201d, as well as Kayleigh.<\/p>\n
