\n\tEXCLUSIVE: <\/strong>Renate Reinsve<\/a> has been officially confirmed for the role of\u00a0Mary Wollstonecraft<\/a> in\u00a0Mia Hansen-L\u00f8ve<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0epic and intimate period drama\u00a0If Love Should Die<\/a>\u00a0as Goodfellas<\/a> boards sales for a script-backed TIFF<\/a> launch where it will be one of the buzziest European productions on the market.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn fresh casting news, Reinsve is being joined by\u00a0Johnny Flynn<\/a> and Vicky Krieps<\/a> in key roles, with\u00a0Charlie Kelly, Will Keen, Tom Sturridge and Jane Beever also featuring in the cast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is a European co-production between Ireland, France<\/a>, Norway, Spain and UK, backed by Anonymous Content and RT Features, with Anonymous Content co-repping domestic rights with CAA\u00a0Media Finance.<\/p>\n

\n\tNorwegian actress Renate Reinsve arrives on the film fresh from her performance opposite Sebastian Stan in Cristian Mungiu\u2019s Cannes 2026 Palme d\u2019Or winner and awards season frontrunner\u00a0Fjord, following a buzzy run on last year\u2019s award trail with Best International Feature Film winner\u00a0Sentimental Value.<\/p>\n

\n\tEqually in demand actors Johnny Flynn and Vicky Krieps recently appeared together\u00a0in Malgorzata Szumowska and Michal Englert\u2019s\u00a0The Idiot(s) which received a buzzy world premiere\u00a0in Telluride over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther recent credits for Flynn include\u00a0A Prayer for the Dying\u00a0and another raved about Telluride title,\u00a0Elsinore, while\u00a0Phantom Thread\u00a0breakout Krieps was seen over the past year in Jim Jarmusch\u2019s Venice 2025 Golden Lion winner feature,\u00a0Father, Mother, Brother, Sister\u00a0and Cannes 2025-selected drama\u00a0Love Me Tender<\/p>\n

\n\tFirst announced in 2024, If Love Should Die will focus on the\u00a0remarkable\u00a0last 12 years in the life of 18th century English writer, philosopher and women\u2019s rights advocate Wollstonecraft, who also is famed for being the mother of Frankenstein creator Mary Shelley.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet in England on the eve of the French Revolution, it follows\u00a0Wollstonecraft, a then\u00a0young, poor, solitary woman, as she carves a daring path through the ideals of the Enlightenment. Dismissed from her post as a governess, she resolves to live by her pen, against all odds.<\/p>\n

\n\tIf Love Should Die\u00a0will be Hansen-L\u00f8ve\u2019s\u00a0first English-language feature since Cannes 2021-selected drama\u00a0Bergman Island,\u00a0starring Vicky Krieps and Mia Wasikowska. To date, she has directed eight feature films with other highlights including\u00a0Things to Come,\u00a0starring Isabelle Huppert, which won the Berlin Film Festival\u2019s Silver Bear\u00a0for Best Director in 2016.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is set in the UK as well as multiple other European territories including France, Portugal, Norway, and Sweden.<\/p>\n

\n\tHansen-L\u00f8ve\u00a0will be joined on the shoot by multi-award-winning cinematographer\u00a0Claire Mathon (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Spencer,\u00a0Saint Omer) and her regular editor Marion Monnier as well as production designer Mela Melak (A Real Pain,\u00a0High Life) and Louise Stanton as costume designer (The Quiet Girl).<\/p>\n
