There\u2019s another threat, though, and it\u2019s one that puts some supporters of renewable energy like me in a novel situation: protesting against the construction of a windfarm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Berwick Bank will be one of the biggest offshore windfarms in the world \u2013 a few kilometres from the Bass. This is perilously close, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabird.org\/conservation\/berwick-bank-offshore-windfarm\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RSPB<\/a> has calculated that it will kill more than 4,000 seabirds in its first year alone, among them gannets, puffins and endangered kittiwakes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">I support windfarms, but the location of this one is deadly, cruel and shortsighted, and thousands of us want it to be moved further out to sea.
