<\/p>\nAnother Australian who had been unaccounted-for following the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet has been found safe.<\/p>\n
The ABC understands that the person was not in the disaster zone.<\/p>\n
The person is the eighth Australian to be found since the floods, with 35 others still unaccounted-for.<\/p>\n
Of those, 34 were on the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, while one was not part of the tour.<\/p>\n
For many Australian families, a relatively small area of mountainous terrain near the Nepal-Tibet border has become critical in the search for survivors, or at least answers.<\/p>\n
Most Australians still unaccounted-for went missing near the Gyirong border crossing, north of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, or in nearby areas inaccessible following the disaster.<\/p>\n
Many were on spiritual pilgrimages to Mount Kailash, a mountain in south-western Tibet that Hindus consider sacred.<\/p>\n
Rescue efforts continue at hydropower sites<\/p>\n
In Nepal, rescue teams are continuing to focus on hydropower tunnel projects where some 900 people are missing.<\/p>\n
Nepal’s army said on Tuesday that 121 people could be trapped inside the tunnel network, with the remainder working elsewhere on the sites.<\/p>\n

Nepal’s disaster authority chief Dharma Raj Upreti told Reuters they were still focusing on finding survivors.<\/p>\n
“Our bigger focus is on the Chilime hydroelectric project, where we believe people are trapped, because there was a canteen, residency and arrangements for food,” he said.<\/p>\n
He said teams were also focused on tunnels of the Upper Trishuli 3A and 3B projects, <\/strong>which were linked by an interconnected tunnel, where oxygen had been supplied by pipes and further equipment had been sent to build a passage to trapped workers.<\/p>\n More on the Nepal-Tibet floods<\/p>\n Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah said rescue operations would not stop.<\/p>\n “We know our responsibility and its sensitivity. We are translating the humanitarian spirit of the Nepali people into practice through the search and rescue operation,” he said in a social media post late on Monday.<\/p>\n At least 1,399 people have been killed and more than 5,400 are still missing in Nepal and Tibet.<\/p>\n Chinese state media reported on Tuesday that none of the bodies recovered in Tibet were foreign nationals.<\/p>\n A total of 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries were missing, Chinese officials said, as they worked to identify the victims.<\/p>\n At least 43 people were killed in Tibet, with another 519 people still missing.<\/p>\n China’s foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that a fourth batch of emergency aid had been sent to Nepal to help with rescue efforts.<\/p>\n
