Some videos just get to you, and this is absolutely one of them. A woman visits a lonely bird waiting for adoption, and decides to sing him the classic ‘You Are My Sunshine.’ He seems to respond positively, so she comes again. And again. A simple act of kindness, but it’s what happens next that turns it into something so unforgettable and touching.<\/p>\n

After multiple visits, she arrives and, before she can even start singing, the solemn Cockatoo<\/strong><\/a>starts to sing along. His voice is so unbelievably timid. The words he gets out are hesitant and unsure, but it’s there. It’s like he’s not entirely convinced he’s allowed to join in. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.<\/p>\n

His voice sounds so utterly sad! Like he’s trying to match her melody, but he’s also holding back.<\/p>\n

So many viewers noticed the same thing and made comments such as ‘He sounds afraid to sing’ and ‘He’s trying so hard to sunshine you back.’<\/p>\n

The Loud Cockatoo\"A<\/p>\n

Cockatoos are the second loudest of the parrot family, with the Amazon holding the number one spot. The noise level of a Cockatoo can be as high as 135 decibels<\/a>, or equivalent to those emitted by a 747 jet! So, hearing one be as quiet as the one in our video today is surprising, to say the least.<\/p>\n

Cockatoos use language and mimicry<\/a> to bond with humans, and to interact with the ‘flock’-or in this case, the humans that they are around. So, in the Cockatoos own way, it’s his attempt at connecting and being part of something bigger than his temporary cage. We see the words flash across the screen ‘I needed this today,’ and it’s a reminder that connection flows both ways. It’s so touching.<\/p>\n

In that fragile, hesitant duet, they both found some comfort and maybe that Cockatoo won’t go without a home for much longer. Someone will hear his weak, unsure ‘sunshine’ and know exactly what he needs: a safe home, and someone to love him and keep him safe and secure.<\/p>\n
