WITH THE KNOWLEDGE that the remaining traitor recruited a new accomplice, paranoia was rife in the castle in the latest episode.<\/p>\n

Who would the traitor choose? Who could faithfuls trust now?<\/p>\n

Previously, Aoife was driven to tears trying to defend her faithfulness. But in Monday night\u2019s episode traitor Carla brought her over to the dark side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you\u2019re clever enough to be able to spin this,\u201d Carla told her. But Aoife had her doubts, and rightfully so.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Carla had mastered the art of going under the radar.<\/p>\n

She said she was \u201cloving the bananas\u201d at breakfast, which she believes \u201care supposed to relax you\u201d. We haven\u2019t checked the science, but she looked fairly chilled out, chatting and laughing with her loyal friends.<\/p>\n

Even Janet, one eagle-eyed player, said outright that she wasn\u2019t suspicious of Carla.<\/p>\n

After yesterday\u2019s challenge, there were four people left on death row \u2013 faithfuls\u00a0DJ, Sam, Donal and Denis \u2013 and the traitors had to choose who to kill.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s clocking on little things,\u201d said Aoife.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he\u2019s everywhere,\u201d said Carla. \u201cHe\u2019s going to go through us all \u2026 This is literally the only time we have to murder him, so just do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denis\u2019s husband and fellow faithful Diego said he was devastated to lose him.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sussing you out like hell\u2019<\/p>\n

Diego said they all \u201cstrongly\u201d believed Aoife was the original traitor. They thought the other traitor was new.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now everyone was a suspect, even one\u2019s close friends. As DJ put it, \u201cthey\u2019re still sussing you out like hell\u201d.<\/p>\n

Aoife almost blew her cover at her first breakfast as a traitor.<\/p>\n

While discussing theories with faithfuls, she said: \u201cFionula was on DJ, and then all of a sudden she was on Sam, and DJ was on me \u2026 that\u2019s weird because we<\/strong> \u2013 they murdered Saoirse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who murdered them, Aoife?<\/p>\n

David and Kayleigh clocked the slip up immediately.<\/p>\n

But Aoife wasn\u2019t the only one rousing suspicion.<\/p>\n

Sam noted that David seemed unable to make eye contact with him \u201cfor some strange reason\u201d. \u201cIt\u2019s something to look out for,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

David was also accused of looking tired and unlike himself.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Gr\u00e1inne raised suspicions about Diego, because he looked \u201cknackered\u201d. There\u2019s a theme here.<\/p>\n

Apparently, a good night\u2019s sleep is the most important weapon in a player\u2019s arsenal.<\/p>\n

Superlatives<\/p>\n

For today\u2019s challenge, players made their way through the forest finding scarecrows with name tags of players.<\/p>\n

For each question given, such as \u201cwho is most controlling\u201d, they chose the name they believed other players gave when asked the same question by producers earlier.<\/p>\n

They then carried that scarecrow to a chest which contained the next question, and so on.<\/p>\n

Pauric O\u00a0was deemed the \u201cmost controlling\u201d player by every team, which he took as a compliment. However, the correct answer was Ian, so back they went to fetch the other scarecrow.<\/p>\n

Pete was deemed the most popular player, but Janet\u2019s team wrongly chose her, slowing them down and no doubt bruising her ego.<\/p>\n

The red team, comprising Donal, Kayleigh, DJ, and Pete, were first to finish. They were rewarded with five minutes in a field of scarecrows that held bags of prize money and a shield to protect one player from being murdered tonight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kayleigh was on fire, holding no punches from the poor scarecrows. Her hard work paid off, and the team collected \u20ac2,900 of a possible \u20ac3,000.<\/p>\n

Pete lucked out and found the scarecrow with the shield.<\/p>\n

However, the team chose not to tell the others who got it. Their theory was that the traitors wouldn\u2019t want to waste a kill on someone protected by a shield. This way, they all stayed protected. A great strategy \u2013 if it worked.<\/p>\n

The plan was quickly foiled when Pauric O pretended to know who got the shield, prompting Kayleigh to pull it out of her pocket to show him and several others.<\/p>\n

\u2018I didn\u2019t really feel much empathy\u2019<\/p>\n

In a bombshell announcement before the roundtable, presenter Siobh\u00e1n McSweeney said Gr\u00e1inne had left the castle and the game entirely due to an injury incurred during the challenge. It means players will never know if she was a traitor or a faithful.<\/p>\n

As talks commenced, Pauric O went straight for Aoife, saying when she voted for Pauric K (traitor) on Monday night, he looked like \u201che was after seeing a traitor go against him\u201d.<\/p>\n

Aoife\u2019s past associations came back to haunt her more than once.<\/p>\n

Kayleigh and Ian brought up Aoife\u2019s time spent in the car with banished traitors Fionula and P\u00e1uric K, after which they all had different accounts of their conversation.<\/p>\n

Feeling the heat, Aoife turned attention to Carla who looked impressively unfazed. The faithfuls didn\u2019t interrogate Carla any further.<\/p>\n

David then came under the microscope for being the first to ask which member of the red team picked up the shield earlier. They said it was what a traitor would want to know ahead of their next murder.<\/p>\n

Donal said it \u201cirked\u201d him that Aoife and P\u00e1uric K had continued to bring his name up at the roundtable and \u201cnot back it up with anything\u201d, as she never voted to banish him.<\/p>\n

As players ganged up on her, Aoife became emotional.<\/p>\n

Donal said afterwards: \u201cTo be honest it\u2019s the first time someone has cried in front of me, and I didn\u2019t really feel much empathy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kayleigh was the first to vote for Aoife, saying, \u201cI just don\u2019t think you\u2019ve been the same person\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really do think I\u2019m doing you a favour by cutting you loose,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Everyone voted for Aoife, even her fellow traitor Carla. The kind words that accompanied their votes were hardly any consolation.<\/p>\n

In her final act, Aoife voted for Carla\u2019s banishment. Ian said this came \u201cout of the blue\u201d, and Sam said it made him consider whether they had it all wrong. However, Carla was safe for another day.<\/p>\n

Before revealing which side she was on, Aoife implied she had only recently become a traitor. But players seemed too preoccupied with their hat trick to read between the lines.<\/p>\n

Will the faithfuls pick up on the traitor-on-traitor attack?
