He was also a photographer in his own right, and edited Photo Magazine during the late 1980s. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucien Smith <\/strong>(1989\u20132026)<br \/>Fixture of NYC&#8217;s downtown art scene<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-10.png\" class=\"kg-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1528\"  \/>Artist Lucien Smith (1989\u20132026) (photo Sean Zanni\/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>The abstract painter and nonprofit founder channeled the community ethos of New York in the 1970s.
