Having spent their entire childhoods onscreen, it\u2019s impressive that Elle and Dakota Fanning<\/a> managed to escape the tabloids mostly unscathed. But that doesn\u2019t mean they aren\u2019t interested in the lives of other, more scandalous sisters. Last year, Dakota, the elder of the two, told<\/a> The Cut that with the help of A24, the Fannings had acquired the rights to Paris Hilton\u2019s<\/a> memoir and were preparing to adapt it into a television series, calling it her \u201cgirlhood dream come true.\u201d In an interview<\/a> with Vanity Fair published on Tuesday, the women confirmed that they had begun work on the project, starting with a meeting with Hilton at her home. Dakota told the magazine she hopes \u201cto weave that outward persona \u2014 the glitz, the glam, the Chihuahuas in clothes \u2014 with the darker underbellies of Paris\u2019s journey.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWatching her \u2014 and Elle \u2014 grow into such talented, grounded, and inspiring women has been a full-circle moment,\u201d Hilton, who met the girls in 2003 while filming, what else, The Cat in the Hat, said in an email to VF of the sisters. \u201cThey grew up watching my career unfold, so they understand both the cultural impact and the personal journey behind it. They see beyond the catchphrases and sparkle.\u201d<\/p>\n Though Hilton didn\u2019t confirm which of the sisters would play her and younger sister Nicky, she did give the \u201cnepo sisters\u201d (as Elle calls herself and Dakota) her full trust in telling their story accurately. \u201cGrowing up in the public eye, especially in the middle of peak tabloid culture, was intense in ways you can\u2019t really explain to someone who hasn\u2019t lived it,\u201d Hilton said.<\/p>\n A24, do you hear me?
