{"id":68686,"date":"2025-09-17T01:28:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T01:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/68686\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T01:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T01:28:08","slug":"vigil-planned-for-tipperary-man-who-died-after-incident-in-back-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/68686\/","title":{"rendered":"Vigil planned for Tipperary man who died after incident in back garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Neighbours and friends of a man <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/news\/munster\/arid-41705609.html\">who died over the weekend<\/a> will gather for a vigil near his home on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Teddy Murnane, from St Michael\u2019s Avenue in Tipperary town, died after an incident in the back garden of his home last Friday night at around 9.30pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A man has been charged in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Tuesday evening, people will gather at St Michael\u2019s Avenue for prayers and to lend their support to Mr Murnane\u2019s grieving family. One of his three grown-up children has returned from abroad, ahead of funeral arrangements being made for Mr Murnane, who was in his 80s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Local parish priest Fr Eugene Everard will say prayers at the vigil. He told the  Irish Examiner that the vigil has been organised by local residents in a bid to offer support and solidarity to the Murnane family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHe was a nice, quiet man,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n            This is to show a bit of support for the family \u2014 we have to be there for one another.\u201d\u00a0\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Murnane died at University Hospital Limerick, after being rushed there on Friday night. He remained in a critical condition at the hospital over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He had worked as a bus driver and was the driver for the Tipperary senior hurling team for a number of years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It is understood that Mr Murnane\u2019s wife, Margaret, was in their home when the incident occurred in their back garden. The couple have three grown-up children and a number of grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A family liaison officer has been appointed to the family as the investigation into the incident continues.
