Illan Rubin is thrilled to be a part of Foo Fighters. The drummer took to Instagram on Sept. 14, one day after playing his first show with the band, and gushed about the experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast night with @foofighters could not have been a better time,\u201d he wrote alongside photos from the gig. \u201cAfter keeping my head down for a couple wild months and throwing myself into the material, that first show was such an incredible release of energy.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been taken aback by all the positivity and support, and I just wanted to say thanks!\u201d Rubin added. \u201cExcited for all the volume and sweat that lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Foo Fighters\u2019 Drumming Shake Up<\/p>\n
Rubin\u2019s Foo Fighters debut came four months after the band fired their drummer<\/a>, Josh Freese, who joined to group in 2023 following Taylor Hawkins\u2019 death.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Foo Fighters called me on Monday to let me know they\u2019ve decided \u2018to go in a direction with their drummer.\u2019 No reason was given,\u201d Freese wrote on Instagram<\/a> at the time. \u201cRegardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off the stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn my 40 years of drumming professionally, I\u2019ve never been let go from a band, so while I\u2019m not angry \u2014just a bit shocked and disappointed,\u201d he added. \u201cBut as most of you know I\u2019ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I\u2019m fine. Rubin is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails. Freese, meanwhile, returned to Nine Inch Nails following Rubin\u2019s departure. He\u2019d previously drummed for the band between 2005-2008.<\/p>\n During the band\u2019s September show, frontman Dave Grohl made it official.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody else has said it.
