Which means I trotted off to work in a sweater and rain jacket. Jude Law, on the other hand, doesn’t believe in such nonsense. For him, everyday is sunny and warm with a gentle and pleasant breeze—or at least that’s what his wardrobe is saying.

On Tuesday, Law was spotted outside his hotel in New York City dressed like he was about to board a yacht to sail somewhere beachy and tax-free. In his hand, he carried a laptop, a phone, and a paperback copy of Jim Steinmeyer’s Hiding The Elephant; on his person, he swathed himself in soft clothing in shades of white and cream.

The Black Rabbit actor layered a cream knit cardigan, which featured pockets and a notched collar, over a plain white tank top with textured white trousers and tan suede Oxfords (worn sans-socks, of course, in case he needs to slip them off on deck). He accessorized with shades from Hollywood’s favorite sunglasses-maker, Jacques Marie Mage. The look felt very much in-line with the warm-weather evangelists of the fashion world. The likes of Jacquemus, Orlebar Brown, and Sunspel have been pushing an eternal-summer agenda for a long time.

Jude Law, looking yacht-ready in New York City on Tuesday.

BG048/Bauer-Griffin

And this is a fit as eternally-summer-y as they come. It’s light, breezy, has layers that come off and on, and theoretically provides some sun protection. This is a fit to buy piña coladas in while your swim trunks dry on the sun lounger. This fit says “Let’s get an extra side of fries for the table” when the table is just you.

Does it matter that it’s actually quite brisk outside and everyone else is wearing windbreakers and rubber-soled shoes for fear of stepping in puddles? Not in the slightest. For Jude Law, summer is a state of mind. And can we get one of those little umbrellas in the piña colada? Thanks.

A version of this story originally appeared in British GQ.

[74
13364,18,19,17,27249,2614,82,1715
0":"post-70510","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-technology","8":"tag-digital_syndication","9":"tag-eire","10":"tag-ie","11":"tag-ireland","12":"tag-jude-law","13":"tag-style","14":"tag-technology","15":"tag-textbelowcenterfullbleed
["GET
