Marie, who lived in the Renmore area and was originally from Ballyglass in Claremorris, Co. Mayo, died following an accident on the Dublin Road in Galway on Monday evening, September 15.<\/p>\n
A road closure was in place in the area beside Wellpark Retail for several hours as gardai carried out forensic analysis.<\/p>\n
Marie was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Jack and Kitty, her brother Mickey, her nephew Seamus and her sister-in-law Mary.<\/p>\n
She will be sadly missed by her sister Josephine Trench and Richard, her brother Jimmy and her sister-in-law Bridie, her niece Maria, Robert and family, her nieces Patricia, Caroline, Keelin and Niamh, her nephews Richard, James, Bernard, Conor, Eoin, Ciar\u00e1n, Darragh and Cian, her step-daughter Deirdre and her daughter Ciara, her grandnieces and grandnephews.<\/p>\n
A death notice for Marie says that she will be reposing at Aras Naofa, Renmore on Thursday, September 18 from 5pm to 6.30pm with removal afterwards to Carnacon Church.<\/p>\n
Funeral Mass on Friday at 1pm followed by burial in Burriscarra cemetery.<\/p>\n
Gardai are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was travelling in the area with dashcam footage is asked to come forward. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson for An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na told the Irish Independent: \u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the Dublin Road, Wellpark, Galway City, on Monday September 15.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe collision, involving a bus and a female pedestrian, occurred at approximately 8.45pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pedestrian, aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has since been reopened.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday September 15, 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
