{"id":71132,"date":"2025-09-18T08:03:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T08:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/71132\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T08:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T08:03:08","slug":"apple-remains-out-in-front-with-e205bn-in-revenue-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/71132\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple remains out in front with \u20ac205bn in revenue \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Big technology companies continued to dominate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/top1000\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/top1000\/\">Top 1,000 rankings<\/a> of companies published by The Irish Times on Thursday, with Apple once again way out in front in terms of both turnover and profits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The California-based iPhone maker recorded revenue of \u20ac205.4 billion in the year to September 28th, 2024, with profits of \u20ac70.6 billion. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/apple\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/apple\/\">Apple<\/a> employs about 6,000 people at its Irish operation and the company\u2019s huge profitability has been a key factor behind the surge in Irish corporation tax revenues in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/google\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/google\/\">Google<\/a> retained second spot with revenue of \u20ac77.3 billion while profits almost doubled on the previous year to \u20ac3.6 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/microsoft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/microsoft\/\">Microsoft<\/a> reported higher profits at \u20ac3.95 billion while turnover rose by 14 per cent to just under \u20ac74 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In fourth spot was Meta, with the Mark Zuckerberg-led tech giant recording profits of \u20ac1.85 billion on revenue of just under \u20ac70 billion (turnover was \u20ac58 billion in 2024). <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Among other tech firms, LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, ranked 26th with revenues of \u20ac8.3 billion and profits of \u20ac395 million. Amazon Data Services, a data centre business, is 39th. The Jeff Bezos-founded company posted revenues of just over \u20ac6 billion but profits of just \u20ac15 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Pharma giant Pfizer breaks the tech monopoly, coming in fifth with revenues of \u20ac58.8 billion and profits of \u20ac7.4 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The biggest domestic company, in sixth place, was once again building materials giant CRH, which is headquartered and tax domiciled in Ireland but listed on the New York Stock Exchange. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Now led by Jim Mintern, the company posted profits of \u20ac4.1 billon on revenue of \u20ac32.9 billion last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The top 10 was closed out by medical devices company Medtronic, which moved its global headquarters to Ireland some years ago; Johnson Controls, which describes itself as a \u201cworld leader in smart buildings\u201d; power management systems manufacturer Eaton Corporation, which moved up one spot to ninth; and DCC, an Irish company based in Dublin but listed on the London Stock Exchange, which dropped a place to 10th. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Among the financials, the Central Bank of Ireland continued to top the list with assets of \u20ac179 billion, which was down almost \u20ac5 billion on a year earlier. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Among the retail banks here, Bank of Ireland was ahead of AIB in terms of assets but the Colin Hunt-led lender posted higher profits. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Revolut makes the table for the first time, in 20th spot, with profits of \u20ac133 million and assets of \u20ac20.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">As the world\u2019s biggest packaging group, Smurfit Westrock is placed 11th with revenues of \u20ac19.5 billion.
