\n\tOscar-winning actress Helen Mirren<\/a> is weighing in on the James Bond<\/a> debate, and she\u2019s made her stance clear.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m such a feminist,\u201d the legendary Brit told Saga Magazine<\/a> in a new interview alongside her The Thursday Murder Club co-star Pierce Brosnan<\/a>, famed for his stint as Ian Fleming\u2019s iconic spy. \u201cBut you can\u2019t have a woman. It just doesn\u2019t work. James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrosnan concurred with Mirren, and added about the next actor to take on the role: \u201cI wish them well. I\u2019m so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character\u2026 I adore the world of James Bond,\u201d he said, \u201cIt\u2019s been very good to me. It\u2019s the gift that keeps giving. And I\u2019m just a member of the audience now, sitting back, saying: \u2018Show us what you\u2019re going to do.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAll eyes are on Amazon<\/a> MGM Studios as they gear up for their first 007 movie after buying the rights off step-siblings Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for a reported $1bn earlier this year. Denis Villeneuve is set to direct<\/a> and Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is penning the script.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that\u2019s the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder,\u201d Knight told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeculation about who might succeed Daniel Craig as Bond is rife, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland<\/a> and Harris Dickinson among the hottest names to be thrown around. Of course, the woman-wooing MI6 agent is a role some believe should not exclude female actresses, too.<\/p>\n
