{"id":72397,"date":"2025-09-19T00:05:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T00:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/72397\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T00:05:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T00:05:09","slug":"former-liberty-insurance-owned-business-in-ireland-may-be-sold-again-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/72397\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Liberty Insurance-owned business in Ireland may be sold again \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Italian insurance giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/generali\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Generali<\/a> is weighing a potential sale of its Irish unit, RedClick, according to reports, less than two years after it acquired the business from US peer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/liberty-mutual\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/liberty-mutual\/\">Liberty Mutual<\/a> as part of a wider deal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">If a disposal were to result from a strategic review that Bloomberg reported on Thursday Generali is undertaking, it would mark a second change of ownership within 15 years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Generali has hired Bank of America to review options for the Irish unit, which was rebranded as RedClick a little over a year ago, the report said. A disposal of RedClick is one of several options that are said to be under review. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Representatives for Generali and Bank of America declined to comment, it said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The Italian insurance giant inherited the Irish business as part of a \u20ac2.3 billion deal completed in early 2024 that also included Liberty Mutual\u2019s businesses in Spain and Portugal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It marked a return by the Italian group to the Irish general insurance market some 23 years after it closed its Dublin office, which had been writing small amounts of property and casualty business as well as commercial insurance at the time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754647931518-c07d65db-55b5-463e-ae51-976300c5837e.jpeg\"\/>Why has the DAA board fallen out with chief executive Kenny Jacobs?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Generali is seeking to improve its profitability by focusing on more lucrative assets, and expanding in casualty and property business and asset management. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">RedClick had 250,000 customers and more than 400 employees across offices in Cavan, Enniskillen and Dublin as of late last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Boston-based Liberty Mutual entered the Irish market in 2011 by taking over the main businesses of Quinn Insurance, which had fallen into administration a year earlier after a large hole was discovered in its balance sheet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Liberty\u2019s Irish operation was subsumed into its then Madrid-based subsidiary Liberty Seguros in 2018, leaving it as a branch of the Spanish company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The rebrand last year saw Generali appoint a group executive, Lorenzo Ioan, who has most recently been a key figure in the group\u2019s international business, as general manager of RedClick on the island of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Generali is one of the largest global insurance and asset management providers.
