<\/p>\nBarry Furfey (42) was killed during the early hours of Monday. He was taken to hospital with critical injuries after the emergency services were called to an apartment complex on Wardsborough Road around 1am.<\/p>\n
Two suspects arrested in connection with his death have now been charged.<\/p>\n
In an update, the PSNI said: “A 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are charged with murder and are expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 17.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs is usual procedure, the charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tributes for Mr Furfey poured in online following confirmation of his death.<\/p>\n
One woman described him as a \u201clovely fella\u201d.<\/p>\n
Another tribute posted online read: “So sad. Barry was a lovely lad and quite would do anything for us. Rest easy, Barry.”<\/p>\n
“Totally sickened and saddened by this. Poor fella did not deserve this horrible death,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n
Local Sinn F\u00e9in councillor Declan Lynch said that as the murder happened \u201cin the heart of Lisburn\u201d, the entire community is in shock. <\/p>\n
He urged people not to spectate, and instead allow for police to \u201cconduct their investigations to come to a proper conclusion\u201d. <\/p>\n
Mr Lynch also said his thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. <\/p>\n
Alliance Party councillor Nicola Parker said the community had been left in shock.<\/p>\n
“I am deeply saddened to learn about this horrifying incident, and my sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this incredibly difficult time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis tragic incident has left many residents in the community feeling shocked and distressed, but I am confident they will unite during this challenging time.<\/p>\n
“The PSNI now need space to carry out their investigations but I would appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist, to please contact police.\u201d<\/p>\n
SDLP Lisburn North councillor Pat Catney added: \u201cI visited the Wardsborough Road area following the news of this murder and spoke to members of the local community who are fearful that this happened on their doorsteps.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely awful for anyone to lose their life in this way and I would like to express sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who lost his life.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would ask anyone with any information to come forward to police and commend their response. I also note with deep concern the comments from the Chief Constable that the PSNI currently lack the resources to properly investigate murders. We have seen far too many violent deaths already this year and the PSNI must be supported to bring those responsible to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Previously, the PSNI\u2019s Ms Angus said: \u201cPolice received a call for assistance from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service just before 1am on Monday morning, September 15, at a property in the Wardsborough Road area of the city.<\/p>\n
“Officers attended, and a man, aged 42, was located at the property with serious injuries.<\/p>\n
“Medical treatment was provided at the scene \u2013 before he was transferred onward to hospital.<\/p>\n
“Sadly, the man then passed away this morning due to the extent of his injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n
