A cyclist who died after she was hit by a truck in Cork has been named as 26-year-old Manani Oskau from Tokyo in Japan who only moved to Ireland earlier this year.<\/p>\n
The collision occurred at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road in Cork city at 6.15pm on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Emergency services and garda\u00ed rushed to the area. However, Ms Oskau was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Her body was taken to the morgue at Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a postmortem examination. The truck driver was not injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
It is understood that the parents of the deceased will arrive in Ireland this weekend. The young woman was in Ireland on a work visa and was employed at a restaurant in Cork city.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Garda Forensic Collision investigators carried out an examination of the area where the accident occurred. Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them.<\/p>\n
They are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Thursday to make it available to investigating officers.<\/p>\n
