It\u2019s sad to see it now temporarily closed, as they have put it. Everyone is a bit confused as it is so close to the time children are going back to school,\u201d said one parent.<\/p>\n<p>The store would have provided many Limerick men with their first ever suit.<\/p>\n<p>And members of the Limerick senior hurling team were also regular visitors to the stores. <\/p>\n<p>Signs on the door are advising customers that the stores are \u201ctemporarily closed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Noels_Menswear2-1755527713654.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1920\"\/><\/p>\n<p>These signs also give information about a telephone number to call for school uniform collections or alterations.<\/p>\n<p>A statement posted on Noel\u2019s Menswear\u2019s social media pages reads: \u201cThe Noel&#8217;s Stores in Bedford Row, Crescent Shopping Centre, Newcastle West and The Long For The Outdoors store in the Crescent Shopping Centre are temporarily closed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And it has now emerged that Wickham Properties, the trading name of Noel\u2019s Menswear, is the subject of a winding-up petition.<\/p>\n<p>Winding-up refers to closing the operations of a business, selling off its assets, paying off creditors, and distributing any remaining assets to the owners.<\/p>\n<p>A petition for winding up is usually based on the company&#8217;s inability to pay.<\/p>\n<p>A creditors\u2019 meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 20.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Family &#8211; Vanessa, Bryan, Maureen, Noel and Garry\u00a0 &#8211; operate Noels Menswear, according to a post on the Crescent Shopping Centre\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p>Limerick Live rang the telephone number which was given to customers to contact, and left a voice message.<\/p>\n<p>The call was returned, but Limerick Live was told by the person who made the call that they could not comment.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple attempts were made previously to contact Noel\u2019s Menswear but without success.<\/p>\n<p>A visit to the store\u2019s premises in Bedford Row was also made this Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Only the window displays appeared to be there, with the remainder of the store empty.<\/p>\n<p>No further information about the time and venue of the creditors\u2019 meeting was available.<\/p>\n<p>A filing to the Companies Registration Office revealed that at the start of last year, Noel\u2019s Menswear had 17 staff on its books.<\/p>\n<p>For the majority of its 40 years trading in the city centre, Noel\u2019s Menswear was based at Wickham Street, moving to Bedford Row around a decade ago.
