\n\tOn Thursday, the multi-Emmy-nominated actor \u2014 who is a significant part of Disney\/Marvel\u2019s big relaunch alongside fellow First Steps stars Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, all of whom are slated to be in Avengers: Doomsday \u2014 defended Kimmel on Instagram after his unceremonious sidelining.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStanding with you @jimmykimmellive<\/a>,\u201d Pascal wrote alongside an image of the two of them on the late-nighter. \u201cDefend #FreeSpeech<\/a> Defend #DEMOCRACY<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPascal is in good company in making such a statement, joining the likes of fellow Marvel stars like Tatiana Maslany, who urged viewers to boycott ABC\u2019s parent company and cancel their subscriptions to Disney services<\/a>. Other top talent, like Damon Lindelof, vowed they would not work with Disney until the show was reinstated<\/a>. Andor\u00a0writer and recently minted Emmy winner Dan Gilroy penned a guest column in Deadline denouncing the\u00a0\u201cvenomous evil\u201d and governmental \u201csiege\u201d<\/a> the network pulling represented, and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner<\/a> condemned the move as a signal of poor leadership at the Mouse House. In Hollywood overall,\u00a0guilds have reacted with fervor<\/a>, with writers and actors\u00a0protesting at the Disney lot in Burbank<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a widely denounced move that has sent shockwaves through both the entertainment industry and American society at large, ABC\u2019s indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday came after FCC chair\u00a0Brendan Carr<\/a>\u00a0threatened action<\/a>\u00a0over a joke made at President Donald Trump\u2019s expense, in which Kimmel poked fun at POTUS for being in the \u201cconstruction\u201d stage of grief for segueing from a reporter\u2019s question about how he is\u00a0\u201cholding up\u201d over the assassination of Charlie Kirk into the remodeling being done on the White House ballroom<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe action also followed largest TV station group Nexstar\u2019s pulling of the show for the\u00a0\u201cforeseeable future,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which the company later clarified it did so\u00a0\u201cunilaterally\u201d sans FCC pressure<\/a>. Meanwhile, Sinclair Broadcast Group, the second largest national station operator and largest owner of ABC affiliate stations, said it would not lift the suspension until Kimmel had apologized to Kirk\u2019s family and made a \u201cmeaningful donation\u201d to his conservative nonprofit organization Turning Point USA. As such, the company replaced its Kimmel slot\u00a0with a tribute to Kirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Trump has\u00a0celebrated the news<\/a>, implying that late-night hosts Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon are next up for removal.<\/p>\n
