{"id":7593,"date":"2025-08-18T17:41:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/7593\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T17:41:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:41:07","slug":"sarah-jessica-parker-on-ajlt-hate-watching-trend-i-dont-really-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/7593\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Jessica Parker on &#8216;AJLT&#8217; Hate-Watching Trend: &#8216;I Don&#8217;t Really Care&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sex-city\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sex-city_1\" data-tag=\"sex-city\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sex and the City<\/a> franchise has come to a close, at least for now, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/and-just-like-that-finale-michael-patrick-king-satc-ending-interview-1236345204\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/and-just-like-that-finale-michael-patrick-king-satc-ending-interview-1236345204\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">series finale<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/and-just-like-that\/\" id=\"auto-tag_and-just-like-that_1\" data-tag=\"and-just-like-that\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">And Just Like That<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-reviews\/and-just-like-that-hbo-series-finale-review-1236345250\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-reviews\/and-just-like-that-hbo-series-finale-review-1236345250\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">concluded<\/a> the revival series after three seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe HBO Max follow-up to the iconic original series (which picked up following the two films) began as a grief-com following the untimely death of Carrie Bradshaw\u2019s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sarah-jessica-parker\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sarah-jessica-parker_1\" data-tag=\"sarah-jessica-parker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Jessica Parker<\/a>) husband, Big (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chris-noth\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chris-noth_1\" data-tag=\"chris-noth\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Noth<\/a>), and over the course of two seasons expanded its ensemble and tone before ending with a coda to the finale of the original series and leaving Carrie as fabulous \u2014 and single \u2014 in New York City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlong the way, a vocal viewing trend emerged where viewers (and critics and writers,<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/and-just-like-that-hate-watch-season-3-explained-1236318418\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/and-just-like-that-hate-watch-season-3-explained-1236318418\/\"> including one at The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>) were self-identifying as \u201chate-watchers\u201d of a series they collectively said was barely recognizable to the original, but one they would still never give up watching.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn her only interview since the And Just Like That finale last week, Parker (also an executive producer) was asked if she was aware of the trend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think I have the constitution to have spent a lot of time thinking about that,\u201d she told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/15\/arts\/television\/sarah-jessica-parker-and-just-like-that-finale.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/15\/arts\/television\/sarah-jessica-parker-and-just-like-that-finale.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">New York Times<\/a>. \u201cWe always worked incredibly hard to tell stories that were interesting or real. I guess I don\u2019t really care. And the reason I don\u2019t care is because it has been so enormously successful, and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tParker conceded that the tone has evolved over the course of the series. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t just pretend that this catastrophic event hadn\u2019t happened in Carrie\u2019s life,\u201d she said of Big\u2019s death. \u201cThat\u2019s why the second season was so buoyant and necessary. That was a conscious decision to have it feel much more of a souffl\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut she fully supported the ending co-written by AJLT showrunner and Sex and the City writer-director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/michael-patrick-king\/\" id=\"auto-tag_michael-patrick-king_1\" data-tag=\"michael-patrick-king\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Patrick King<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe could have gone on doing coffee shops. There\u2019s a million ways to do it that are easy and familiar and fun, but feel exploitative to us,\u201d she says of why they ended the series. \u201cWe felt this was the honorable thing to do. It\u2019s very easy to stay. It\u2019s where we\u2019re all happy. But you have to be principled when you make these very difficult, agonizing decisions because there\u2019s a lot of people who are affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAdding of Carrie, \u201cI feel good about her. I think she\u2019s set up pretty well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen speaking to THR about the series finale and decision to end the franchise, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/and-just-like-that-finale-michael-patrick-king-satc-ending-interview-1236345204\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/and-just-like-that-finale-michael-patrick-king-satc-ending-interview-1236345204\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">King said<\/a> he and co-writer Susan Fales-Hill knew it was the ending when they wrote it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThat is what I wanted to say as an echo and a callback and a response to the finale of\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/best-sex-and-the-city-episodes-of-all-time-ranked\/\">Sex and the City<\/a>, when Carrie was walking down the street and said, \u2018The most significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the love you love, well that\u2019s fabulous,&#8217;\u201d he explained of Carrie ending up single after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/and-just-like-that-carrie-aidan-breakup-season-3-reaction-1236327030\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/and-just-like-that-carrie-aidan-breakup-season-3-reaction-1236327030\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">breaking up<\/a> with longtime love Aidan Shaw (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/john-corbett\/\" id=\"auto-tag_john-corbett_1\" data-tag=\"john-corbett\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John Corbett<\/a>) earlier in the season. \u201cThis last episode was about creating so much chaos and so much love and so much family around her that you would feel that she was not alone. But when she walks into that beautiful house \u2014 quiet \u2014 and eats pumpkin pie with a spoon, you realize, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s pretty good life, too.
