Thomas Frank is off the mark as Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> boss after a 3-0 opening-day victory over Burnley.<\/p>\n

Spurs have received more good news, with captain Cristian Romero penning a new contract<\/a> to stay in North London.<\/p>\n

Signings are still on the radar, and Tottenham are chasing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have also targeted Savinho<\/a>, with Manchester City\u2019s stance on a deal now emerging.<\/p>\n

Reports last week suggested that Savinho was uncertain on his City future<\/a> amid interest from Tottenham.<\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> understands City were tempted to cash in on Savinho<\/a>, but have now shut the door on a move.<\/p>\n

TBR Football\u2019s<\/strong> chief correspondent Graeme Bailey<\/a> understands that Savinho has now been told that he won\u2019t be leaving the Etihad Stadium.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have also been informed that Savinho will be staying put, with City unwilling to sell a player Pep Guardiola wants to keep.<\/p>\n

Tottenham\u2019s interest coming so close to the end of the window is a factor, but it was Guardiola\u2019s stance which was \u2018key\u2019 to Savinho staying.<\/p>\n

\u201cSavinho has been informed that the deal is a non-starter. I believe it was possible, but with just a few weeks left, it is not ideal,\u201d said Bailey.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, as we reported, Pep Guardiola did not want to lose him, and I am told that was key. The hierarchy were open to a deal, but they wouldn\u2019t simply go against Guardiola,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Savinho set to miss Tottenham Hotspur clash<\/strong><\/p>\n

City\u2019s decision comes just days away from Tottenham\u2019s visit to the Etihad Stadium for their second game of the season.<\/p>\n

Spurs won\u2019t face Savinho, though, with the Brazilian facing \u2018a few weeks\u2019 on the sidelines, as Guardiola told the Manchester Evening News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian picked up an injury against Palermo in pre-season and missed Saturday\u2019s 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.<\/p>\n
