{"id":76474,"date":"2025-09-21T05:23:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T05:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/76474\/"},"modified":"2025-09-21T05:23:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T05:23:17","slug":"control-of-spin-qubits-at-near-absolute-zero-a-game-changer-for-quantum-computers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/76474\/","title":{"rendered":"Control of spin qubits at near absolute zero a game changer for quantum computers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The qubits were supplied by Diraq, a UNSW spin-out established by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.unsw.edu.au\/people\/scientia-professor-andrew-dzurak\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Andrew Dzurak<\/a>, and the know-how that enabled the University of Sydney-designed control chip will now carry over to underpin much of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydney.edu.au\/news-opinion\/news\/2025\/05\/22\/emergence-quantum--a-commercial--special-ops--team-for-research-.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the work of the new company, Emergence Quantum<\/a>, co-founded by Professor Reilly and Dr Thomas Ohki.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Reilly said: \u201cAs well as good science, this is a a good commercialisation story, too, and is more evidence why Sydney is a vital cog in the global quantum industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lead author\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sam-bartee-b0a6ab117\/?originalSubdomain=au\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Sam Bartee<\/a>, who undertook experiments as a PhD student with Professor Reilly at the University of Sydney, is now working at Diraq.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIt\u2019s extremely exciting to be part of this work, to be involved in the development of such powerful technologies and to sit in this hotspot of quantum computing research. Sydney really is a remarkable place to be a quantum engineer to be at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kushal-das-31662590\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Kushal Das<\/a>\u00a0was the lead designer of the control chip. He holds a joint position with the University of Sydney and Emergence Quantum.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Das said: \u201cNow that we have shown that milli-kelvin control does not degrade the performance of single- and two-qubit quantum gates, we expect many will follow our lead.
