{"id":78179,"date":"2025-09-22T04:39:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T04:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/78179\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T04:39:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T04:39:09","slug":"dublin-fringe-festival-2025-award-winners-revealed-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/78179\/","title":{"rendered":"Dublin Fringe Festival 2025 award winners revealed \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">An autobiographical cabaret by an Irish trans playwright has won best production at this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fringe-festival\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fringe-festival\/\">Dublin Fringe Festival<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Pea Dinneen\u2019s Raising Her Voice was a personal narrative about her life, which featured adopted 1990s pop songs to tell the story. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">She described herself as a \u201ctransgender, bipolar alcoholic who can\u2019t drive and who grew up posh and gender-confused\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The show got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/stage\/review\/2025\/09\/08\/pea-dinneen-raising-her-voice-review-stirring-cabaret-about-a-trans-life-forced-on-hold\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/stage\/review\/2025\/09\/08\/pea-dinneen-raising-her-voice-review-stirring-cabaret-about-a-trans-life-forced-on-hold\/\">a five star review from Irish Times reviewer<\/a> Chris McCormack. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Comedian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/alison-spittle\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/alison-spittle\/\">Alison Spittle<\/a> jointly won the Best Performers Award for her show Big, about life after taking the weight-loss drug Ozempic, with Emily Terndrup for her role in Offspring, a retelling of the Frankenstein story.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Alison Spittle performed her show, BIG, at this year's Dublin Fringe Festival. Photograph: Karla Gowlett <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Meanwhile, the Best Ensemble Award went to Octopus Children by FeliSpeaks (Felicia Olusanya) about a \u201cblack Irish midlands culchie\u201d who comes out as gay. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Fishamble New Writing Award went to Hannah Power and Conor Murray for their play Don\u2019t Tell Dad About Diana which tells the story of two drag artists who were scheduled to play Princess Diana on the night she died in 1997.
