\n\tThe Criterion<\/a> Collection announced a diverse November lineup on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, including restorations of John Hughes\u2019 teen drama \u201cThe Breakfast Club<\/a>,\u201d Reginald Hudlin\u2019s hip-hop comedy \u201cHouse Party<\/a>\u201d and Stanley Kubrick\u2019s final film \u201cEyes Wide Shut<\/a>.\u201d The slate also features Werner Herzog\u2019s making-of documentary \u201cBurden of Dreams,\u201d Luis Bu\u00f1uel\u2019s Mexican melodrama \u201c\u00c9l,\u201d Howard Hughes\u2019 aviation epic \u201cHell\u2019s Angels\u201d and a major Eclipse box set dedicated to Abbas Kiarostami\u2019s early work.<\/p>\n

\n\tHughes\u2019 \u201cThe Breakfast Club\u201d (1985) defined a generation of high school films with its mix of angst, comedy and unlikely camaraderie among five students in Saturday detention. The new edition features a 4K restoration, cast interviews with Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, commentary from Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson, and nearly an hour of deleted and extended scenes.<\/p>\n

\n\tKubrick\u2019s \u201cEyes Wide Shut,\u201d starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, receives a 4K release of the international version. The edition includes interviews with cinematographer Larry Smith and Kubrick archivist Georgina Orgill, archival material with Christiane Kubrick, and documentaries exploring the director\u2019s unfinished projects and legacy.<\/p>\n

\n\tHudlin\u2019s 1990 debut \u201cHouse Party\u201d makes its Criterion bow, showcasing its place in early-\u201990s hip-hop culture with a director-approved restoration and new conversations with cast and crew. Extras include Hudlin\u2019s original 1983 student short of the same name, a reunion with Kid \u2018n Play and co-stars Tisha Campbell and AJ Johnson, and a video discussion with film scholar Racquel Gates.<\/p>\n

\n\tHerzog\u2019s obsession with pulling a 320-ton steamship over a mountain in \u201cFitzcarraldo\u201d is chronicled in Les Blank\u2019s 1982 documentary \u201cBurden of Dreams,\u201d which arrives in a new restoration supervised by filmmaker Harrod Blank. Supplements include Herzog\u2019s short \u201cWerner Herzog Eats His Shoe\u201d and production journals from Blank and collaborator Maureen Gosling.<\/p>\n

\n\tBu\u00f1uel\u2019s \u201c\u00c9l,\u201d a 1953 surrealist melodrama about jealousy, paranoia and repression, is presented with a restoration supervised by the son of cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa. Bonus features include an appreciation from Guillermo del Toro and archival interviews with Bu\u00f1uel.<\/p>\n

\n\tHughes\u2019 1930 aviation drama \u201cHell\u2019s Angels\u201d returns in a new 4K restoration of the Magnascope road-show version, highlighting its aerial sequences and featuring Jean Harlow\u2019s star-making performance. The release includes interviews, outtakes and critical appreciations.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Eclipse label expands in November with \u201cAbbas Kiarostami: Early Shorts and Features,\u201d compiling 20 works from 1970 to 1989. The collection traces Kiarostami\u2019s beginnings at Tehran\u2019s Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, including early shorts \u201cBread and Alley\u201d and \u201cBreaktime\u201d and the features \u201cExperience,\u201d \u201cThe Traveler\u201d and \u201cHomework.\u201d<\/p>\n
