<\/p>\nFormer prison guard from Limerick says he is open to taking part in other reality TV shows\n<\/p>\n
The Limerick man, who was nicknamed \u201cThe Paud-father\u201d by fans of the RT\u00c9 programme, said he never expected the huge reaction to his performance.<\/p>\n
The 68-year-old said he intended to keep a low profile during the show\u2019s run, but had to rethink his position once he got his foot in the door of Slane Castle.<\/p>\n
Speaking after his exit, he said: \u201cI definitely didn\u2019t work out a strategy. I intended to stay under the radar, but the very minute my name was brought up at the round table on day one, that theory went out the door.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having been a fan of The Traitors UK, Paudie immediately applied to be a contestant on the Irish version.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never for one minute thought I\u2019d get in the show, but I was willing to take that chance,\u201d he said. \u201cI have my two hips replaced, but it didn\u2019t become an issue at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that he would be open to appearing on other reality TV shows as well, and \u201cwouldn\u2019t say no\u201d to Gogglebox.<\/p>\n
The former prison officer was a big hit with viewers because of his razor-sharp wit, but said he was bewildered by the reaction.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m grateful, but I had no idea. It was totally accidental,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Christine, who lives with multiple sclerosis, says she has been blown away by the wave of support from viewers also living with the condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love the response so far,\u201d she said. \u201cA lot of people have reached out with their own stories of their diagnosis.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been really good because people feel reassured, they feel hope \u2014 I suppose they\u2019ve been given a glimmer of light. Hopefully, me being on the show is going to encourage others that it\u2019s not the end of their world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paudie and Christine have spoken of their time with the other contestants, despite the often stressful nature of being on the show.<\/p>\n
\nYou\u2019re killing somebody\u2019s dream. But it\u2019s just the way that it was<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\u201cWe all got on quite well and we all gelled well,\u201d Christine said. \u201cI love every single contestant. I do believe there were really great friendships that will last after the show.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added, however, that it can be difficult to discern who is and isn\u2019t telling the truth, which meant she had to rely on her instincts as well as those of fellow contestants.<\/p>\n
Paudie said he found it was often difficult to face fellow contestants when he knew his role.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a game. We knew it was a game. I was 100pc behind being a traitor, I knew I\u2019d have to murder,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing to the breakfast table every morning was difficult because you knew you would have to navigate like the other faithfuls. You\u2019re killing somebody\u2019s dream. But it\u2019s just the way that it was.\u201d<\/p>\n
With just one traitor left, who do they want to win?<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, any of them,\u201d Paudie said. \u201cI\u2019m not sitting on the fence \u2014 I think they\u2019re all excellent people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Will Nick be caught?<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope so,\u201d Christine said. \u201cTeam girlies all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n
