\n\tIt\u2019s been over a year since the inception of the much-publicized back-and-forth<\/a> between Drake<\/a> and Kendrick Lamar<\/a>. The hip-hop beef<\/a> gave us Lamar\u2019s Grammy-winning anthem, \u201cNot Like Us,\u201d and led to a legal fire with Drake suing his own label, Universal Music Group (UMG), over allegations of \u201cdevaluing his brand\u201d amidst tensions. <\/p>\n

\n\tSeveral key figures in hip-hop shared their opinions, while others were directly involved as featured guests on Lamar or others\u2019 multiple diss tracks. A$AP Rocky appeared on Future and Metro Boomin\u2019s single \u201cShow of Hands,\u201d which was thought to be directed at Drake with lyrics referencing his girlfriend \u2014 and Drake\u2019s rumored ex \u2014 Rihanna.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStill don\u2019 trust you, it\u2019s always us, never them,\u201d Rocky raps on \u201cShow of Hands.\u201d \u201cHeard you dropped your latest sh*t \/ Funny how it just came and went (Ha-ha-ha).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday, Rocky shared in an interview with Elle<\/a> that he thought the diss tracks were \u201chealthy for hip-hop.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe battle was between Kendrick and Drake, not Drake and everybody else who might have said something at that time, and that\u2019s mainly why I fell back,\u201d Rocky told Elle. \u201cI just hate the way it\u2019s turning out with [Drake] suing and all that. What part of the game is that? What type of shit is that? That\u2019s none of my business, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLucian Grainge<\/a>, chairman and CEO of UMG, the world\u2019s largest music company, called Drake\u2019s claims of defamation and that Grainge was involved in the planning and release of that song \u201cfarcical,\u201d \u201cnonsensical,\u201d \u201cgroundless and indeed ridiculous\u201d in a declaration letter filed in August. Grainge noted that the company had spent \u201chundreds of millions\u201d in supporting the Canadian rapper\u2019s music career. <\/p>\n

\n\tPrior to Grainge\u2019s response, Drake had filed a motion to turn over the label\u2019s contract with Lamar, along with details regarding alleged claims of domestic violence and committed by Lamar, who released \u201cNot Like Us\u201d and other songs referencing the battle via UMG\u2019s Interscope division.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s been over a year since the inception of the much-publicized back-and-forth between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
