{"id":81870,"date":"2025-09-23T21:39:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T21:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/81870\/"},"modified":"2025-09-23T21:39:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T21:39:14","slug":"minimum-wage-to-increase-in-5-provinces-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/81870\/","title":{"rendered":"Minimum wage to increase in 5 provinces in October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tDescrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tIncrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>Minimum wage is increasing in five provinces at the start of October.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As of Oct. 1, <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/minimum-wage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">minimum wage<\/a> in Ontario, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia will increase.<\/p>\n<p>By law, minimum wage is the lowest hourly amount a business can pay a worker and is set by provinces and territories.<\/p>\n<p>In Ontario, the province\u2019s minimum wage increases annually based on provincial inflation levels, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/employment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Employment<\/a> Standards Act.<\/p>\n<p>The October increase will see the minimum wage rise from $17.20 an hour to $17.60 per hour. The provincial government says this would amount to a pay increase of $835 annually, if working 40 hours per week.<\/p>\n<p>Ontario\u2019s new minimum wage will be the fourth highest in the country, behind British Columbia, Yukon and Nunavut.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Prince Edward Island\u2019s minimum wage will increase from $16 to $16.50, as determined by the Employment Standards Board, which reviews the rate annually.
