Multiple people were wounded and one was killed in a shooting on Wednesday at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/a> (Ice) field office in Dallas, and the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, federal officials said.<\/p>\n

Police responded to reports of the shooting at the office in northwest Dallas at about 7.30am local time, local media reported. <\/p>\n

Department of homeland security secretary Kristi Noem<\/a> said in a post on X that there were multiple injuries and fatalities and the \u201cshooter\u201d was dead.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I\u2019m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families,\u201d US vice president JD Vance wrote on X, replying to Ms Noem.<\/p>\n

The field office is where people are processed and where agents decide whether to release individuals or hold them, according to Ice.<\/p>\n

There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov<\/a> Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. <\/p>\n

The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound. <\/p>\n

The victims were being led into the building to be processed and repatriated, Fox News reported, citing Dallas police department sources.<\/p>\n

Two people were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene. The suspect has died, the Dallas police department said on X.<\/p>\n

Footage from local news showed heavy law enforcement response around the facility.<\/p>\n

The suspect was found dead on the roof of a nearby building, local ABC affiliate WFAA reported, citing sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary information is a possible sniper,\u201d Ice acting director Todd Lyons told CNN.<\/p>\n

Some media accounts said at least some of the victims were in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Dallas police responded to Reuters inquiries and a spokesman said \u201cThis is an active scene and information is limited.\u201d \u2013 Reuters<\/p>\n
