{"id":83423,"date":"2025-09-24T20:18:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T20:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/83423\/"},"modified":"2025-09-24T20:18:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T20:18:13","slug":"limerick-man-accused-of-lee-slatterys-2010-murder-to-face-central-criminal-court-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/83423\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick man accused of Lee Slattery\u2019s 2010 murder to face Central Criminal Court trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A MAN who is accused of murdering Lee Slattery more than fifteen years ago, on the outskirts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick<\/a> city is to face trial before the Central Criminal Court.<\/p>\n<p>Kurt Ryan, aged 32, with an address at Cliona Park, Moyross has been charged with the murder of Lee Slattery in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The body of the 24-year-old was found in a shallow grave at Delmege House Estate, Knocklisheen Road, Limerick, on May 31 of that year.<\/p>\n<p>A handgun was found near the scene of the crime and a post-mortem subsequently revealed that he had sustained a number of gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read More:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/crime-and-courts\/1900445\/frightening-experience-for-victims-of-thefts-in-limerick-city.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u2018Frightening experience\u2019 for victims of thefts in Limerick city<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who was one of a number of people arrested last week, first appeared in court on Wednesday, September 17.<\/p>\n<p>During a procedural hearing this Tuesday, Inspector Liam Wallace confirmed \u00a0the Director of Public Prosecutions has formally directed that Kurt Ryan is to be tried on indictment before the Central Criminal Court.<\/p>\n<p>He told Judge Patricia Harney the book of evidence is currently being prepared and he requested an adjournment of the case to facilitate its completion.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant appeared before the court via video link from Limerick Prison, where he is currently held in custody.<br \/>During the brief hearing solicitor Sarah Ryan, representing Kurt Ryan, agreed to a short adjournment, until October 7.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ryan, who appeared before court unshaven, wearing a grey T-shirt, only spoke to confirm his name and that he could see and hear the proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>More than 30 arrests have been made in connection with the murder to date.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT &#8211;
