{"id":8707,"date":"2025-08-19T05:56:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T05:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/8707\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T05:56:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T05:56:08","slug":"stoxx-600-ftse-dax-trump-talks-fed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/8707\/","title":{"rendered":"Stoxx 600, FTSE, DAX, Trump talks, Fed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON \u2014 European stocks are expected to open broadly higher on Tuesday as global markets reacted positively to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/18\/trump-zelenskyy-ukraine-putin-live-updates.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the outcome of talks between U.S. President\u00a0Donald\u00a0Trump, Ukrainian President\u00a0Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a>\u00a0and European leaders at the White House on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K.&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTSE\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FTSE<\/a> index is seen opening 0.18% higher, Germany&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.GDAXI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DAX<\/a> 0.14% higher, France&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FCHI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CAC 40<\/a>\u00a0up 0.16% and Italy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTMIB\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FTSE MIB<\/a> flat.<\/p>\n<p>At the closely watched talks on Monday, Trump\u00a0said peace negotiations can take place while both countries are still fighting, dropping his earlier calls for a ceasefire. He also said security guarantees for Ukraine would be &#8220;provided&#8221; by European countries with &#8220;coordination with the U.S.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy said a package of coveted security guarantees for Ukraine \u2014 expected to include a massive purchase of American weapons \u2014 would be &#8220;formalized on paper within the next week to 10 days.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. president also said a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelenskyy is being planned, to be followed by a trilateral meeting which will include Trump.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/19\/asia-stock-markets-today-live-updates-nikkei-225-asx-200-kospi-hang-seng-csi-300-sensex-nifty-50html.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Asia-Pacific markets<\/a> traded mixed overnight following declines on Wall Street, while U.S. stock futures ticked down early Tuesday ahead of key speeches from Fed officials this week.<\/p>\n<p>Central bank officials from around the globe will convene in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascityfed.org\/research\/jackson-hole-economic-symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fed&#8217;s annual economic symposium<\/a> which begins Thursday.
