He was cancelled \u2013 unfairly he always claimed \u2013 at the height of Hollywood’s #MeToo movement.<\/p>\n

But now actor Chris Noth<\/a>, best known as Mr Big from Sex And The City, is returning to the big screen for the first time in more than four years in a very different role from the one which made him a global superstar.<\/p>\n

Noth, 70, plays a creepy Stephen King-style horror writer in a psychological thriller called The Block, set for release next year.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, the film’s director Craig Singer said: ‘Chris’s character is about as far from Mr Big as you can get. People are going to be blown away by his performance. He’s a brilliant actor and he knocked it out of the park.’<\/p>\n

Noth’s world came crashing down shortly after Mr Big was killed off in the first episode of the Sex And The City sequel, And Just Like That<\/a>, in 2021.<\/p>\n

Two anonymous women came forward claiming he sexually assaulted them in separate incidents in 2004 and 2015.<\/p>\n

Fans of Sex And The City were upset when Mr Big died following a heart attack while working out on a Peloton exercise bike, but others joked that Noth (left) was lucky not to appear in the critically panned sequel<\/p>\n

No charges were ever brought and police in\u00a0Los Angeles<\/a>\u00a0and New York, where the alleged incidents took place, have confirmed no investigations are ongoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Noth vehemently denied the claims as ‘categorically false’ and that the encounters were ‘consensual’, but the fallout was swift and he has not starred in a movie or TV show since.<\/p>\n

Fans of Sex And The City were upset when Mr Big, the businessman who fell in love with Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, died following a heart attack while working out on a Peloton exercise bike<\/a>, but others joked that Noth was lucky not to appear in the critically panned sequel.<\/p>\n

Director Singer said he did not hesitate to cast Noth, whose credits also include Law & Order and The Good Wife.<\/p>\n

He said: ‘We were introduced by a mutual friend. Chris was originally going to play a smaller part but he ended up playing a pivotal role as this reclusive Stephen King-style horror writer who is the mentor of the lead character.<\/p>\n

‘I talked to people in the industry about whether the accusations would adversely affect the film, and people seemed to feel that it was yesterday’s news.’<\/p>\n
