Pulp<\/a> and LCD Soundsystem<\/a> have teamed up for a version of Heaven 17<\/a>\u2019s \u2018(We Don\u2019t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang\u2019 \u2013 watch below.<\/p>\n

As announced back in March<\/a>, the two bands played a pair of co-headline shows at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday and Friday (September 25 and 26), and at the second of them, they joined forces to play the pointedly political 1981 synthpop classic.<\/p>\n

James Murphy<\/a> and co. have played the song before, for the 2019 live in-studio release \u2018Electric Lady Sessions\u2019, but it is the first time that the track has appeared on one of their live setlists.<\/p>\n

Whang made the same lyrical switch to the song that LCD Soundsystem did with their version of the song recorded in 2018, singing: \u201cThe orange one is president \/ Fascist god in motion\u201d. On the Heaven 17 original, Glenn Gregory sang, \u201cReagan\u2019s president elect \/\u00a0Fascist god in motion\u201d.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time these two bands have been linked together. Back in 2013, Murphy\u00a0produced Pulp\u2019s reunion single \u2018After You\u2019.\u00a0<\/a>The track was first demoed during the sessions for 2001 Pulp LP \u2018We Love Life\u2019, but was freshly recorded in November 2012 and finished off with Murphy in December of that year. It went on to be Pulp\u2019s first new single in eleven years.<\/p>\n

The band released their new album \u2018More<\/a>\u2019 in June, their first new full-length record in 24 years.\u00a0NME\u00a0spoke to Cocker about the process of making it<\/a>, and the impact that growing older had on the creative process.<\/p>\n

In a four-star review of \u2018More\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0wrote: \u201cDrenched in synths and strings and aided by producer James Ford\u2019s knack for making the music feel alive and omnipresent, \u2018More\u2019 is everything you\u2019d want a Pulp album to be, made richer from some lived experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The album has been nominated for this year\u2019s Mercury Prize<\/a>, alongside the likes of\u00a0CMAT<\/a>,\u00a0Fontaines D.C.<\/a>,\u00a0PinkPantheress<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Wolf Alice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The band will also release\u00a0a deluxe reissue of their classic 1995 album \u2018Different Class\u2019 in October<\/a>, complete with their full Glastonbury 1995 performance.<\/p>\n

As for LCD Soundsystem, their release of \u2018X-Ray Eyes\u2019 in October last year<\/a>\u00a0is thought to be the first taste of their next album,\u00a0which was initially reported to be set for release at some point in 2025<\/a>. Murphy later\u00a0shared an update on the upcoming record<\/a>, saying: \u201cDon\u2019t ask me when that is, because we are still working on it.
