{"id":9041,"date":"2025-08-19T09:33:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T09:33:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/9041\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T09:33:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T09:33:13","slug":"chinas-exports-investments-to-global-south-surge-in-age-of-tariffs-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/9041\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s exports, investments to Global South surge in \u2018age of tariffs\u2019: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China is accelerating its <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/week-asia\/opinion\/article\/3307986\/why-philippines-cant-ignore-chinas-southeast-asia-pivot?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">pivot to the Global South<\/a> to reduce reliance on the United States, potentially creating \u201ca new order of global commerce\u201d, according to a new report.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Chinese exports to the Global South \u2013 covering most of the developing world \u2013 have doubled since 2015, with growth seeing a notable uptick after the US-China trade war during US President Donald Trump\u2019s first term, S&amp;P analysts said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">In the past five years, these exports have risen by 65 per cent \u2013 tripling the pace seen in the previous five-year period. By comparison, exports to the US and western Europe grew by just 28 per cent and 58 per cent respectively over the past decade.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cHigh uncertainties under US tariffs and China\u2019s slowdown will continue to motivate Chinese firms to head to the Global South,\u201d the S&amp;P analysts said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe result could be a new order of global commerce where South-South trade becomes the new centre of gravity and Chinese multinationals emerge as the new key players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">According to the report, China now exports about US$1.6 trillion to the Global South, more than 50 per cent higher than its combined exports to the US and western Europe at US$1 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese firms have also stepped up investments in developing regions, particularly in manufacturing.
