Locals said that the child\u2019s mother made the terrible discovery when she returned home on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

The deceased child was six years old.<\/p>\n

The family was originally from Poland but had lived in the Heathfield estate in Finglas for some time, locals said.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed alerted on Saturday evening<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed and emergency services were called to the family\u2019s home at approximately 8pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Although the investigation is still at an early stage, garda\u00ed are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths. There did not appear to be any signs of forced entry at the property.<\/p>\n

The bodies were removed from the scene by ambulance on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Eerily empty playground<\/p>\n

A playground opposite the house remained eerily empty on Sunday while garda\u00ed searched the surrounding area, looking through gardens, checking under cars and bushes, and opening bins, as forensics teams worked behind the police cordon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Local people said the deceased child had been regularly seen in that playground.<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner that autopsies \u201cwill be arranged in due course\u201d, and the results of these will assist them \u201cin determining the course of the investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added: \u201cNo additional information is available at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in Dublin North-West TD Dessie Ellis, who is from Finglas, said that the community is in shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeathfield is facing Cappagh Hospital there. It\u2019s a relatively new estate and the vast majority of people in there are from Finglas.<\/p>\n

\n It\u2019s a lovely estate and people there can\u2019t get over what happened.\n <\/p>\n

Although the estate is no longer within his constituency following the Electoral Commission\u2019s most recent boundary review<\/a>, he knows many families in the estate and continues to support the local community there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking to some of the neighbours there,\u201d Mr Ellis said. \u201cPeople there were all shocked by it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s totally unexpected. And it\u2019s pretty hard to understand how something like this can happen. People in the area would have known them. They were in the estate there a good while.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll soon hear what actually happened. At the moment, it looks like it was localised, within the family.<\/p>\n

“But, no matter what happened, we have a young child dead and a father, and it\u2019s just so sad.<\/p>\n
