Starlink, the satellite internet<\/a> network operated by Elon Musk<\/a>\u2019s SpaceX<\/a>, was restored for most users in the United States late Monday(August 18) after a brief but widespread outage that left tens of thousands reporting connectivity issues<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to data from Downdetector, outage reports surged past 43,000 by mid-afternoon before declining to about 2,800 at 2:13 pm ET. The crowdsourced platform tracks service problems by collecting user submissions from multiple sources.<\/p>\n

Whether the outage was caused by the same software vulnerabilities identified last month is still unknown.
Previous global failures
Monday\u2019s outage follows a rare but more severe global network disruption<\/a> in late July, when Starlink was offline for roughly 2.5 hours across multiple continents.
