{"id":92647,"date":"2025-09-29T13:22:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-29T13:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/92647\/"},"modified":"2025-09-29T13:22:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T13:22:21","slug":"three-arrested-in-newry-accused-of-kidnapping-human-trafficking-and-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/92647\/","title":{"rendered":"Three arrested in Newry accused of kidnapping, human trafficking and fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lmfm.ie\/news\/lmfm-news\/\" class=\"c-btn c-btn--small c-btn--secondary-fill\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>        All LMFM News<br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/60af561f2307d.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            \u201cThe customer, a vulnerable older person, was accompanied by three adults who staff believed were exhibiting controlling behaviours.&#8221;\n        <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:start\">Police in Newry have made three arrests after concerned staff at a building society contacted police about an attempted transaction which roused their suspicions.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Inspector Keon said: \u201cWe were contacted by staff at the building society yesterday, Friday 26th\u00a0September, after they used Banking Protocol legislation in order to ask a number of questions of a customer who was attempting to make a very large cash withdrawal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe customer, a vulnerable older person, was accompanied by three adults who staff believed were exhibiting controlling behaviours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful that these staff notified us straight away, allowing us to take the necessary action while the customer was still on the premises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers attended the scene and carried out a number of enquiries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree people \u2013 two men aged 68 and 42, and a woman aged 69 \u2013 were then arrested on suspicion\u00a0of attempting to obtain property by deception, and possession of articles for use in fraud.
