{"id":9376,"date":"2025-08-19T13:00:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T13:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/9376\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T13:00:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T13:00:09","slug":"openai-intros-low-cost-chatgpt-plan-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/9376\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI Intros Low-Cost ChatGPT Plan in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">OpenAI<\/a> has introduced a subscription ChatGPT plan for users in India priced at under $5.<\/p>\n<p>The 399 rupees per month (around $4.60) ChatGPT Go plan was <a href=\"https:\/\/help.openai.com\/en\/articles\/11989085-what-is-chatgpt-go\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced<\/a> Tuesday (Aug. 19), offering access to the artificial intelligence (AI) company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/artificial-intelligence\/2025\/5-ways-openais-gpt-5-is-supercharging-chatgpt-for-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">new GPT\u20115 model<\/a> and other features at a reduced cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users! We\u2019re rolling out Go in India first and will learn from feedback before expanding to other countries,\u201d Nick Turley, who oversees ChatGPT, wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nickaturley\/status\/1957613818902892985\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">post<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n<p>He said the new plan offers 10 times more message limits, image generations and file uploads, as well as twice the memory of the free version.<\/p>\n<p>India is OpenAI\u2019s second-biggest market, according to recent comments on a podcast from CEO Sam Altman, who also envisioned the country becoming its largest market. Earlier this year, Altman met with India\u2019s information technology minister to discuss AI initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Microsoft<\/a>, OpenAI\u2019s biggest backer, said earlier this year it planned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/investment-tracker\/2025\/microsoft-invest-3-billion-dollars-cloud-ai-infrastructure-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">invest $3 billion<\/a> to build cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in India over the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndia is rapidly becoming a leader in AI innovation, unlocking new opportunity across the country,\u201d CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/satyanadella\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Satya Nadella<\/a> said in announcing the investments, adding they \u201creaffirm our commitment to making India AI-first and will help ensure people and organizations across the country benefit broadly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other artificial intelligence news, PYMNTS wrote Tuesday about the rise of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/artificial-intelligence\/2025\/winning-ais-future-means-bridging-generational-trust\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI-native digital generations,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0with 66% of zillennials (ages 26-34) and Generation Z (ages 28 and younger) using generative AI tools for personal and professional tasks.<\/p>\n<p>The PYMNTS Intelligence report<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study_posts\/generation-ai-why-gen-z-bets-big-and-boomers-hold-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> \u201cGeneration AI: Why Gen Z Bets Big and Boomers Hold Back\u201d <\/a>found that while 57% of American adults use generative AI in some form, it is younger consumers leading this wave, while older ones hold back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy the hesitancy? For starters, trust,\u201d PYMNTS wrote. \u201cThe same boomers who witnessed the dawn of the internet and the rise of email scams are now encountering AI\u2019s murkier terrain of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/tag\/deepfake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">deepfakes<\/a>, hallucinated facts and synthetic voices. For many, that feels like a step too far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although more than 60% of users said they were satisfied with their AI experiences, 33% said they were concerned that AI could negatively affect jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Fears of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/will-ai-eventually-replace-human-workers-or-augment-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">job displacement<\/a> were higher among younger users, with 38% of Gen Z, many of whom are entering the job market, recognizing that AI could \u201cautomate away internships, entry-level roles or creative gigs.
