Wayne Rooney believes only three clubs can win the Premier League this season \u2013 as he unsurprisingly ruled Manchester United out of the title race following their defeat to Brentford.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s<\/a> 100% record was lost with their late defeat at Crystal Palace, who remain the only unbeaten side in the Premier League<\/a> this season.<\/p>\n

Arsenal<\/a> then moved to within two points of the leaders with their own last-gasp win at Newcastle<\/a>, while Manchester City\u2019s<\/a> resurgence continued with a demolition of Burnley.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the weekend\u2019s results, former United<\/a> striker Rooney<\/a> bemoaned his old side\u2019s latest defeat and called for action from United\u2019s ownership in response.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his BBC Sport podcast, Rooney said he would prefer Arsenal to win the Premier League over Liverpool or Manchester City, confirming that United \u2018definitely\u2019 won\u2019t turn their form around to compete with those three sides.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019d much rather them [Arsenal] win the league than Liverpool. I think City will challenge. So, if it\u2019s City, Liverpool, then best of a bad bunch if it can\u2019t be United.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pressed on United\u2019s chances, Rooney said: \u201cYeah, exactly. Well, it won\u2019t be [United]. It definitely won\u2019t be United. That\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

And going further, Rooney called for \u2018big changes\u2019 at United after all positivity from last week\u2019s win over Chelsea was undone with a lacklustre defeat at Brentford.<\/p>\n

Explaining what needs to change at United, Rooney did not hold back. \u201cI am not seeing anything which is giving me any confidence, there needs to be big changes in my opinion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cManager, players, whatever that is. Whatever it takes to get Manchester United back. There needs to be a clear message from the owners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether that is the Glazers, [minority owner] Sir Jim Ratcliffe, there has to be a message of where this club is going. At the minute we are all sitting there waiting for it to crumble.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe culture of that football club has gone. I see it on a daily basis. I see staff losing jobs, people walking out of jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got two kids [in the academy] at that football club and I really hope this doesn\u2019t affect what they\u2019re doing.
