by a pair of architects as their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/holiday-homes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">holiday home<\/a> and a house that was renovated by a studio principal for her mother feature in\u00a0our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/houses-of-the-month\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">houses of the month<\/a> list for rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CLT House, USA, by nArchitects<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Situated on a wooded lakefront site in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/hudson-valley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hudson Valley<\/a>, CLT House has an irregular boxy shape made from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/mass-timber\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mass-timber<\/a> structure cloaked in live-edge cedar siding.<\/p>\n<p>The lakehouse was created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/narchitects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">nArchitects<\/a> founders Eric Bunge and Mimi Hoang as a sustainable nature retreat\u00a0for the rectangular form of this compact home in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/melbourne\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Melbourne<\/a>, which was designed by Australian architect Jos Tan to blend in with the neighbouring buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Tall, narrow openings were added to the street-facing facade, and the rear of the property features a sliding glass door that target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lil Shingle, USA, by Best Practice Architecture<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lil Shingle is a 1950s house in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/seattle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle<\/a> that was renovated by a principal at local studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/best-practice-architecture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Best Practice Architecture<\/a> for her mother, replacing the wood framing and adding a small extension containing a mud room.<\/p>\n<p>The exterior was covered in scalloped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/cedar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cedar<\/a> shingles, aiming to give the run-down home a friendly appearance, with splashes of noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Studio Bright<\/a> designed this single-storey house in Melbourne to blend into the surrounding bushland, adding metal screens for deciduous climbing plants to grow on.<\/p>\n<p>Solid-face blockwork walls were left exposed in the interior spaces, which are shaded in the summer months by the climbing plants on the exterior.<\/p>\n<p><a Houses, UK studio\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/strom-architects\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Str\u00f6m Architects<\/a> created a fully glazed corner overlooking the Balearic Sea for this home in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/barcelona\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barcelona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The home&#8217;s lower level is partially buried into the sloping site, while above, the expansive living spaces on the upper level open onto\u00a0an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/infinity-pools\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"
